182 brake pad/disc combos - opinions!

  Cooper S JCW
Right - I have read lots of old threads and confusion now reigns in my head! :S

I have got a set of Goodridge hoses to go on and want the fluid changing. Front pads will need doing soon so I am going to change the discs too.

I would like an uprated set up but I want no squeal.

Am I only gauranteed this with the standard Renault parts?

I had Brembo Hi-Carbon discs and EBC Greens on my ph1 172 and they squealed like a stuck pig for the first 1k miles and then settled down a bit. They did make a noise with cold braking though which I find a little embarrassing.

Opinions welcome if you have tried multiple set-ups on your 182

Thanks guys and girls! :D

Alright Munch! :D

I just had some KTR grooved and drilled discs but on my car front and rear with green stuff pads and braided lines.

I will be cleaning the car shortly, I'll upload some photos.

There behind thet trophy alloys ;) So I am sure your will like them :)

Had my brakes on for 2 weeks now and I don't get any noises off them

Hey

Just had Brembo Max discs, yellowstuff pads and braided hoses installed.

Awesome braking compared to standard, and despite other's experieces to the contrary, seem fine from cold.

Got the newer Yellowstuff 'R' pads though, so the formulation could've changed?

I'm happy with 'em

Yozza have the Max discs in stock - nowhere else seems to!

Fred - in what way is the process of installation different to fitting of any other brake discs/pads? need to remove shims from pads?

I think I'm going to stick with the Brembo Hi-Carbon discs - just need to decide on pads now

Ferodo DS2500 - good reviews but don't want my rare as f**k 16" Renault Oz F1s being ruined by dust

Mintex 1155 - mixed reviews about squealing

Mintex Extreme - some say good others that they squeal

EBC Greens?

Standard renault pads?

Im going to have Brembo Hi-Carbons, EBC Greens and Goodridge hoses with new fluid at Yozza's tommorrow. Ill post something tommorow

I have been running DS2500 on Brembro hi-carbon discs for about 8-10 months, and they are very good. Did squeal a fair amount when 1st fitted, but once re-fitted properly squealing fairly uncommon, and if had time could probably stop all together.

No idea where these tales of killer dust comes from - probably do dust slightly more than standard, by washes of easily with no paint damage what so ever.

Work ok from cold, but not very inspiring, once warm they are fantastic!!! Seems like ideal fast road set up to me.
