Been scouring the net now for a while and cant seem to find a decent set of coilovers for a 182 cup ive seen the v maxx ones but cant find them for a cup just wondering if anybody knows any good places to look

cheers peeps

What's your definition of decent? If you just want to lower your car, see if the KTEC ones will fit, but I wouldnt exactly call them decent!

Unless your spending stupid money, you aren't going to get anything better on B roads, than standard dampers and eibach springs.

Nope.

Having been down that road and done it, I'm on the look out for a change. Everyone raves on about stiff coilovers and good handling, when in reality stiff coilovers means you can't drive over uneven roads at any kind of speed.

I hate my car right now, if you hadn't guessed.

Ktecs fit your spec perfectly tbh.

do they howd you rate them ???

For the price they are spot on.

But for me they aren't the best, I wanted something that would perform better but simply couldn't afford it at the time and rushed into buying these.

For a day to day car they go low, are a comfy ride and perform as well as standard imo.

are the k-tec ones moddified 172 units? i had some in the other week that had extra holes machined into them

what you running and are they set up correctly?

Gaz and yes. By setup I assume you mean alignment. So yes.

Lol, Mines running perfect!

You need Fred in your life

If Fred worked for free, I'd love to have him in my life. Unfortunately I needs to pay for many things right now. However.... I will be asking him about a price for a yozza, fitted, at some point in the next couple of weeks.

Yep, I was expecting different units but they are simply the 172's machined with different spacing.

So like a figure of 8 shape almost in the top hole i think it is.

Not what I though i would get, but like i said earlier i rushed into it tbh.

I presume they are still safe as ktec have modded them?, but this begs the question why doesn't everyone buy 172 coilovers and just machine them to fit?

Gaz might be the issue there mate. Cheap coilies tend to be to stiff and crashy

  182 Cup
It's all about the set up - nicest 182 I've driven on after market suspension was on Leda's - set up by Mark Fish.

Always heard good things about Ledas, just discovered they're down the road from where I work as well. Might have to look into my options

Brand means nothing in my opinion, some are too cheap to give a second look, but anything made from quality parts can be made to work for its intended use.

The thing is suspension is always a compromise, you want it to work on a track? It will, but it'll be s**t on the road. You want it to work on the road? It will, but it won't be the best on the track.

I grinned from ear to ear when I went from AST's to standard 182 cup suspension for a month or so after I'd moved house. Then I chucked it into a roundabout and wished I still had the stiff set up - you can't have the best of both worlds.

I'm sure there will be some cocky sod turn up soon telling us all about the Audi magnetic semi-active suspension system.

I still want to drive a Vauxhall GSI3000 with working active suspension, but I'm old. Was is called ACT?

Ive currently got ktecs fitted to mine and not really had any dramas as of yet, is the first set i have had on the 182 cup, is slightly crashy over bumpy roads. Would prob go for KW if they made them for the cup versions( let me know if they do).

Good Value for money but it is 172 kits machined to fit!

Very true.

I have had H&R on 3 of my previous Clios (172 Cup, 182, 197) and loved them. Went for some Billstien B14's on my current Cup (not cheap), nice and low like before, but imo too hard for a good B road hack. So raised them up this weekend, its probably only 15mm lower than a standard Cup now, but the different is night and day. Bloody awesome tbh. Since found out that although they will deck the car, the Billsteins have TUV approval for 20mm lowering, thats it. Decked Clios, although look ace, will NOT handle on B roads.

Not true in my experience. Try some properly tested and engineered stuff. I've been in a few cars on kw v3's. On the meg 225 they rode better than a standard 225cup, and handled brilliantly. Ditto the v2's on mine, rode better than a 182 on eibachs and it's the best handling clio I've ever driven.
There's an obsession on here that stiffer=better. Completely wrong.
