Ahh just last time I checked M8 ran east to west ;)

But then I can forgive you seeing as there's sections which go up n down too :rasp:

Aye that's brave work! Easy fix or complete rebuild?

I got my pug running on Saturday, new battery et voila first time I'd driven it in 3 months

Aye its a bit of a mare as it stands, if its just the lifters we have won a watch as all itll require is a new oil pump and just build it back up. But, seeing as we stripped the top off we aswell to check for damage to the cylinders because if we build it back up and turns out to be somthing else we never checked its wasted efforts :( Still though, the balls rolling now, gonna fire up a thread about it with pics :D

So he did get you out of bed mate!!!!

Aye mate, 16 hour shift on saturday followed by a few beers in the house, wasnt for getting up early:dead:

If you and G4Z need any help (I'm no mechanic but I've got decent tools) I'd be up for a wee nosey round the lump pug restoration permitting!

Me neither mate, it is kind of blind guess work at the moment until we can source what the problem is. Also we slipped the cambelt off and took the cam-shafts out to get into the lifters. It seems it might be oil related according to Gaz's cousin John who knows them inside out as he used to work for Renault but he doesnt have alot of time to work on it as hes busy enough himself:eek:

It is always handy to have a second opinion at bay right enough!

Hoi, where was my invite for this engine ehh danny?

Sorry squire, it was last minute stuff tbh, just trying to get the thing up and running :)

Just to confirm, 5 of the 16 hydrualic lifters are goosed, Was quite suprised to see that the cylinder head, cams, tappets, belt, tensioner, pulleys and head bolts were all brand new! Had just been serviced too as the oil was golden brown! Hopefully should be running in the next couple of weeks!

Just going to take the head off to re-do the head gasket incase its nit been fitted properly as that could be restricting oil flow/pressure!

Will be rebuilt after that, if a new oil pump is needed then so be it!

Myself, Gaz and Gally are going on a road trip on friday morning to pic up a cup that Gaz plans to get back on the road, should be a laugh!
