182 cup rear shocks

  04BGFF182CLIORS
Ive done some searching around and struggling to find a definitive answer...

Im going to be replacing my rear shocks in the next month or so - its a 05' 182 with the CUP suspension pack. Is there any difference in shocks between normal and cup setup?

Looking at THESE unless it will be easier to just pop to Renault?

Cheers

In order of stiffness it goes Trophy>Cup>Normal.

So to answer your question, the cup ones are stiffer and are prone to failing after around 60-70k miles if not earlier if it's had a hard life.

Mines just tipped over 70k, so about due, the MOT shows slight 'misting' on the OS rear, and the car is very unstable on bumps on that side.

Although I think the original fitment from factory was actually KYB, I wouldn't take a punt on any generic KYB unit if you have the cup chassis as I' pretty sure they are different rates. Also, I don't think the K-tec site is very clear on that either, just listing two, so wouldn't be confident from them.

I got mine from the nearest Renault parts desk - then I can ensure that they have ordered the ones for the cup chassis (listed as "extreme", bizarely!). Part number supplied to me was 8200681125 - £99 + VAT this time last year for a pair. The traders on here will beat a local dealer unless you get trade discount so worth a few phone calls as mentioned above

factory ones are made by KYB yep.

cup ones are uprated over standard, however they are the same fitment so both will fit both cars (only rears, fronts are different bolt spacing)

Thanks for the replies chaps!

Who exactly is Adam, and where is he based? I have a renault dealership about 1 mile away, so may be my easiest option? (assuming they arent stupidly more than anywhere else!)

Adam works at the main Renault UK parts trade hub and mail orders out parts to people VERY cheap, i think a pair of shocks from him are about £40 each AND he'll send the the right cup ones unlike most other companies (and dealers) who seem to think they're all the same on the rear when they're not
