182 Cup Review...

  MINI JCW

It goes on about the cup being raw, it is exactly the same car as the 182 (if you have cup packs) the only difference is the weight, the setup is the same

autoexpress recon 182team on a perfect launch 6.0 flat to 60 miles per hour !! 10mph a second isnt bad as they timed the 182cup at 6.3 the 20kgs shaving three hundreths of a second even so it will consistently manage 6.3 which is fookin fast for such a small supermini.

the team182 (tom dont start !! ) will probably be avaliable online for stupidly cheap money. hope the recaros come out as an option like planned then weight saving will be even more and then 6.0 to 60mph may well be genuinely possible all the time.

slam on H&R coilovers, get some lightweigh 17s with fat rubber tho.

Dynamically it will be the best clio yet but it aint a cup, abs, esp, cruise control, air con;)

Cruise control realy surprised me not sure if this is right but read it in drive magazine

Hate to agree with a Cup owner (shudders);) but Renault have missed an opportunity with the 182 Cup. To my mind, there are more people who bought the Cup for its extra ability over the 172 rather than its cheaper price. The 182 strikes me as nothing more than a cheapo 182, and has nowhere near the same appeal, or kudos, as the 172 Cup.

And thats the last time youll ever hear me saying anything good about the poor mans 172. lol.

Thing is there never will be another hardcore cup! Renault insist on fitting luxories ;) and legally now abs!

If they sell for £1300 less than normal 182s, and that price drop is reflected at supermarkets, then a 182cup for £10.5-£11k would seem like a good buy to me. But at dealer prices, I cant see anyone losing out on leather, 6cd, xenons and climate control for such a small cash saving - the performance incentive just isnt there like it was first time around.

So I reckon the only buyers will be those with a max budget of £11k or those who simply like orange. Both of which I could well be...;)

I doubt there will be any at the car supermarkets as I cant recall seeing any 172 Cups for sale at them. The 182 Cup is only available in the UK so Foreign dealers who supply the supermarkets will not be able to get hold of them. They may import some Teams, but then it isnt a CUP and wouldnt be a parallel import so could affect insurance etc.

So whats this "team" thing then?

Should have gone all the way with this cup though. Lighter glass, alloys, card door inserts, hand-raulic windows, real buckets, no CC etc and turned it into a real monster.

After all, thats what you buy it for not for a 20kg weight saving. I sh*t that out in the morning, its so insignificant its not worth bothering.

its what the cup is called outside the UK, it will have Team Logos all over it, its like the 172 Cup was called the Ragnotti in Europe.
