182 Electrical Problems :(

Ok so I finished fitting my sub and amp yesterday. All was ok so I tidied everything up and that was that.

This morning, I go back to my car, audio is fine but my climate control has stopped working! The unit itself appears fine, the display is ok and I can change the settings but nothing is actually coming out of the vents. I've read that it could be the rheostat but I think it's a bit of a coincidence that this would go the day after fitting my stereo. Checked the fuses in the car, and the relays under the glove box are all in.

I've also noticed that when I turn my headlights on the indicator light on the instrument panel doesn't work. The others seem ok, rear/front fogs, main beam etc. I am one dipped headlight (D2S) down atm since one blew the other day (I hope - better not be the ballast!) so I'm waiting for that to arrive tomorrow. Don't know whether that has anything to do with it :S

Ok so I've got the light on the instrument panel to work. Turned out that the drivers side headlight fuse had blown.

Is it normal for the fuse to go at the same time as the bulb?

Managed to get myself a rheostat from the scrap yard this morning - only £5! Went back to the carpark, thought I'd try it one last time...........it worked! Typical. At least now I've got a spare. Would have been even worse if I'd got it new from Renault.
There were about 20 clios, 3/4 of them 172/182s and only one had the rheostat left. Definitely a common fault!

Also got myself some tweeter grills and spare fuses

After realising that the fuse had gone for the drivers side headlight, I thought it would be worth testing the bulb again before fitting the new one. And it worked! So I'm guessing the fuse blew for another reason? What else is in the circuit? I read somewhere something about the level motor. How can I test that this is working?
