182.. err.. issues?

  Focus st3 & t5.1 day
Could use some advice, but im not great at explaining, so bare with me..

Firstly..

my temperature gauge is sitting in the middle as it should, but after driving to work (9miles or so) the engine is stupidly hot.. opening the bonnet is like when you open an oven door and the heat hits you in face.. worryingly hot.. been running with the engine cover off as it feels like it could melt it.. the other day when i got to work, the car felt really hot so i opened the bonnet, and the coolant tank was bubbling like it was actually boiling over

the car seems to be drinking / could be leaking oil, nothing is dripping out under the car? i park in the same place everyday and theres no patches left on the ground, ill investigate further on my next day off (Wednesday) could be collecting in the under-tray but havent noticed anything obvious as yet.. im using about a litre of oil a month, give or take, gone through a 5 litre bottle in 6-7 months of owning the car, im guessing the heat could be through lack of oil, but not 100% sure..

next up

Idle seems to be a little bumpy somedays.. not like bouncing from 1-2k revs.. just goes up and down 100 revs here and there, but seems to settle if you leave it running for a few mins til its up to temperature

Driving along now and again, it feels like the cars trying to cough when you cruise around at 2-3k revs, when you feel its trying to cough, accelerate abit more and its fine, til you drop back to cruising and it comes back,

also when cruising, if you hold the pedal at a cruise pace, it feels like your not "driving" as much as gliding along, revs start to go down like its not engaged and then the power kicks back in? seems to mostly do it at 40-50mph in 4th gear

Last up

Might be driving along in 2nd - 3rd gear around 20-30mph, when you let go of the accelerate to coast for abit, say your coming up to a round-about, then you put the power back on to drive again, nothing happens, the SERV and ESP light comes on, and the engine has cut out, you have to turn the key off then back on to start it up and then it works ok?

So any help on the above would be great, point me in the right direction! Cheers for reading :)

Tried removing and cleaning the brushes on the accelerator.. wouldnt say its fixed the cruise-pace problem, but its helped abit

any clues on what else I can look for?

Doing a service on wednesday, full oil change and what not.. maybe ill find the problem then!

just some advice on things to look for would be great :)

Head gasket? I'm sure the experts will comment, but I wouldn't be driving it too much if it's getting that hot, will cause damage long term.

Bubbling headertank does scream HG. Get it to a garage and have it sniff tested.

Headgasket failure are rare tho

Blocked rad?

Does the temp needle stay in the middle after the drive?

When it gets warm make sure all the hoses are warm this will tell you if the water is passing round the engine as it could be the thermostat not opening then is the fan cutting in? If these are ok and there no water pump problem It looks like head gasket

Needle has never gone higher then the middle.. ive been keeping an eye on the oil level and not had any heat issues since, so im guessing it was just lower on oil then it was telling me :\

as above think its just lack of oil causing friction, headgasket is fine! - Cheers for replys :)
