182 Fuel Economy

  Better than yours. C*nt.
Woooo! Probably a million posts like it but I managed a run from home in Derby to Sunderland and back today averaging a whole 42mpg!

Pics to follow tomorrow, but I just had to tell the world how chuffed I was with it!

And the car was excellent - not a light out of place and I don't have cramp - saying I left for Birmingham at 7 this morning, and then went to Sunderland, then got back and had to run a client out to get a new camera and router, 500mile round trip, I can say this car does everything I wanted it to and more!

thats impressive.. i averaged 39mpg going from aberdeen to glasgow yesterday, and about 30 on the way back up ha ha

Just now on the run to gym and back (via Chinese - you don't do all that work to get thin - it's a good excuse to stuff yourself!) I've managed to average 24 - you can imagine how I was driving!

you'd of got even more form a cup, less weight to lug about you see! its a good job really for us cup boys as apparently we can't afford petrol ;)

Struth I can't believe some of the numbers you guys get.

I managed about 35-36mpg (my best ever so far) on a CS Skegness run recently. That was only because of the traffic/speed cameras/being sensible with speeds between 40-60mph.

I doubt if i'll ever see 40+ on the trip.

Got 35 on a round trip to Blackpool (260 mile) and that was being very sensible (70ish).

I'm guessing the only way is to stick the cruise on at 56mph:rolleyes: on a non stop 4 hour journey lol.

Maybe we should have a separate forum for MPG posts since there's so many of them:rolleyes: ;)

  Recaro + Cupped 182
managed 44mpg when stuck at 35-40 behind a lorry in the rain for about 20 miles, was quite chuffed with that, get 33 normally, 27 if i hoof it, so generally 30mpg for me

I only got that by sticking the cruise control on at 70mph and enjoying the scenery! Was good fun.

  Tangoed Works
Did leicester and back on £22 quid over the weekend, averaged out to be 10 miles for a quid. God I love this car, was 5 up as well.

Ive been wondering bout this..... where is the cruise control button????? :D I have a 2002 172 full loaded.... Many Thanks. Mark

  BMW 535D
i usually average 33-36mpg but have seen it as high as 47mpg on the computer but that was just after id re-set it and i was driving like a granny lol

Dont think the 2002 came with it.. The button is located next to the headlight adjust and dash dimmer switches. There's also some buttons on the steering wheel.

  Black/Gold 182
there seems to bit quite a bit of variance between different cars. I wonder if the ones with better fuel economy are slower :)

  Lux'd Glacier White R26
I got 59.7 mpg the other day in my 182.....

Okay i give up, i filled up and reset my trip computer, and went rolling down a hill..lol!

Tys.

I have a 182 and i can't find the headlight level adjuster, any tips? Also, the cruise control has 2 settings, whats the difference?

Thanks- i've been looking through the handbook but its not very clear... on the subject of mpg i have never seen above 35 but usualy 20 something.... even when im trying....

Re the cruise control, one is cruise control (maintains the speed you set), the other is a speed limiter, it won't go above the speed you set (useful when lots of cameras around like on M25 variable speed section but the traffic is stop start). I think when it's green on the dash it's cruise, red for speed limiter.

If you've got a 182 FF with Xenons, aren't they self-levelling so no adjustment?

56mph is apparently the most economical speed to travel at. I got 46mpg on a 120 mile run at just less than 60...it killed me though, and my exhaust had fallen off, which is why i was going so slow lol.

Thanks, So the speed limiter will work at any speed and cut out when i reach the programed speed? Or does it only work with cruise control on? Ive got a FF and need to adjust the headlights, there way way too low, was down in the new forest last week and couldnt see a thing, if they are auto then there not working properley... ive noticed the lights dont come on when it starts to get dark... when im a-b road driving fast i allways turn them on anyway.

with speed limiter, you just drive as normal but when you reach the programmed speed it'll just stick there and not go any faster. You have either cruise control or speed limiter (it's the same switch so you can't have both at once, which wouldn't make sense anyway).

You can switch off the auto headlight feature - suggest you take a look in the owners manual, it tell you how. Same with the auto wipers. You can check the headlight thing too but pretty sure they are supposed to be self levelling

How do you guys get such good fuel economy from your clio's. I've recently bought a 172, and I used about a third of the tank in one day doing about 80 miles, which I guess is about 22 MPG!!! I wasn't driving like a maniac all the time either :D !! Maybe the 182 fuel economy is better, which doesn't make sense with more power!

Ive been trying to set it but cant figure it out? Also, the auto adjusters are rubish... way too low...
