182 fully-synthetic after 1.5k

decided to have oil and filter change after 1.5k took it to renault and they put in fully synthetic elf oil!!!!!.I thought semi-synthetic was recommended.

I heard a lot of people on here saying do it after at least 6k

.Will this damage the engine I think i read a thread by someone saying change to fully synth at 2k.Just looking for other peoples thoughts on this will it do any real damage to the engine. <SCRIPT language=javascript>

This is taken from Honest Johns FAQ website:

Unless it is a super-high-performance car, current thinking is to leave the factory filled oil in the engine for the first 12 months or 10,000 miles in order to promote some wear and enable the piston rings and bores to bed themselves in. After that, change the engine oil and filter and consider switching from the semi-synthetic oil the car came with to fully synthetic. Also, have the manual gearbox oil changed to get rid of any swarf thrown off while the box was bedding itself in before the swarf grinds itself into minute particles which get into the bearings and shorten their lives.

Best to stick with the standard 10W40 semi-synth for the first 10-12k miles (with an interim change) as it will allow the engine to bed in properly.

Switching to a fully synth so early means it will take even longer for the engine to reach full potential, and theres also no need to really change from the manufacturers recommendation anyway...

Id change the oil in the first thousand miles if I was going to do it then change it ever 10k. I do 20k/yr so it would be ever 12months and use the offical stuff.

But then again I cannot be bothered not like it will make a noticable difference and unless your keeping it forever not worth it you wont get any more money for it.

I changed my oil after 1300 miles and it was filthy, definatley needed doing IMO. I had fully synthetic Mobile 1 put in it and the engine has definately felt alot smoother since.

Im now at about 7,400 and it looks like it needs changing again, but its due its first service by December anyway.

Changed my 182 oil after 6k. Used 10W40 magnatec (which is what the dealer also used at the 12k service)... Engine did feel a bit sweeter after that, but it did stop getting quicker.
