182 Geometry Setup

  E92 M3, BG 182
Hi,
I'm looking for recommendations for someone who knows how to setup the suspension geometry on a 182 with Eibach Sportline lowering springs. If it means a number of trial and error settings to get the car feeling how I want it then fine, I'm willing to pay for this. I've had it on a hunter machine at a couple of Kwik-fits and I can't get it to feel right.
I'm based in the Midlands but willing to travel to somewhere willing to spend the time and effort to help me get the car feeling as I want it to.
Thanks in advance,
Dave.

How do you want it to feel? You can only adjust front toe with your current set up. If you want more adjustability then you'll be needing front camber bolts.

I want it to feel stable and planted on the road with plenty of feedback and feel through the steering wheel. To be honest it felt a lot better before I fitted the lowering springs and had the toe adjusted to suit on the hunter machine at quickfit - I can't understand whats gone wrong. I had a 200 a couple of years ago and fitted Eibach Sportlines to that and it felt great.

As said you don't have a deal of adjustment on the standard suspension set up but if you are in the midlands it's worth checking out M.G Auto Motorsports in Ripley Derbyshire. They will be able to advise and get you set up on their hunter allignment gear! They also have full corner weighting facilities for those with more adjustment!

Their phone number is 01773 745400

Hopefully it can be sorted with toe adjustments. Was pretty much OK before I fitted the springs
Hunter system is only a machine.

Search my posts you'll find I had a bad time with a certain Kwik fit doing the alignment, the supervisor ended up doing it for me and got it right first time but it had to go in 3 times!!

Great I'll look into this. Do you know if they've got experience with Clios specifically?

I forgot to mention - I also fitted Ktec solid top mounts at the same time as the Eibach springs - maybe this has had an effect?

I am by no means knowledgeable about these things. But when I moved to Proline springs I felt the back end was a bit too lively. I upped tyre pressures by a couple of psi and the car seemed to come back alive. (from 32/29 to 34/31)

Stupid question (maybe)..

Going to get my car aligned soonish, it will rarely see track, but if I do go on track i'll probably take the spacers off (16mm/10mm). Is it best to get the car aligned with or without spacers.. do they make a difference?

Yes plenty! Very much up to speed and can give advice on what might help to get the feeling you are after! I've used them for years on my previous car (they are evo specialists) but now they also look after the geo on my Clio!

Think I remember asking this years ago.
Makes no difference

Or does it?
The factory recommendation for the 172 Cup is zero toe.
The only difference I am aware of is the wider offset at ET35, compared to the standard 172`s ET48.5.
Might a car with 10mm spacers also require this setting also?
Not something I know the answer to, so if someone does, please come forward.

Just wanted to update the thread. I went to MG Auto Motorsports yesterday and had toe adjusted from 3 minutes toe out to 2 minutes toe in each side and the car is literally transformed - SO much better. Dave up there also recommended trying to get 1 degree of camber into the car for even better handling so I've got camber bolts on the way then back up to MG for another setup. Top place and top guys - highly recommended
