jack it off the chassis leg on the front (square section of metal under the car, about 12inch in from the sill)

Trolley jack on this point will lift both front and rear wheels off the ground

Very old bump. Anyone have a pic of where this is? Dont trust the sills and struggling to find anywhere else which looks safe to jack.

Plenty of info around.

Front I go here on the support bolt -

Back- just go off the sill as its light or the rear beam.

I did try that bolt but was worried. Ended up finding the guide and have used that rail bit.

Jack under the bolt and a stand under the chassis rail, I leave both in place while working underneath for security.

Has anyone ever centre jacked from the front with the subframe? Needing a solution to a single garage :expressionless:

I have had a subframe reinforced with plate for this purpose.
I`ll get round to fitting it once painted it & the weather is a bit warmer, along with black polybushed cup wishbones, ARB & rack bushes.

I got fed up of struggling to Jack the car up and bought a 3t SGS Trolley Jack. It's chunky so I have to drive onto a brick to lift the car up so I can get the Jack under.

I put 50mm concrete coping stones underneath my jacks , its a more solid base and gives you an extra 50mm height to start with so you can get the axle stands under the frame rails .
Something like this :
https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=concrete+coping+stones+travis+perkins&biw=1922&bih=945&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjj6tbekr3RAhWrL8AKHagIDnoQ_AUICCgD&dpr=1#tbm=isch&q=concrete+coping+stones&imgrc=-JZfUSs5xGZJmM:

Surely that would make it harder for me as I cant get the stands under the car?

Put the coping stone under the jack and jack from the sill , then you'll be able to jack up 50mm higher than you would normally with the jack . Put the axle stands under the frame rails not the sills . I'm off to work in min or I'd search for you on here . But if you look for jacking points / axle stands you'll see exactly what I mean with putting the axle stands under the frame rails .

So what's the best way to go about setting the car on 2 axle stands at the front if there isn't a place in the centre to jack it?

Is it too dodgy to sort an axle stand on one side then lift the other side?

Yep, as above. Jack at the front chassis rail, axel stand on the jacking point on the cill. Move to the other side and repeat. Rear, jack on the rear beam, 1x decent axle stand in the centre of the rear beam is enough.

I was going to go with the stands at the rails shown in post 7 where the axle stand is sitting.
Can do that, but i prefer mine on the cills. Gives the car a bit more stability, especially if you're doing any work that means you need to give it a bit of welly.

That's where I put mine. Always been sturdy enough for me.

When you've got it on the 2 stands, just give it a good push to make sure it isn't going anywhere.

anyone got a photo of where on the front chassis rail, or is it on the bolt as the photo earlier post 7#
Ive got mangled (Hasnt everyone) jack points, and would like to jack from the chassis rail just behind the front bolt joint, but it looked like it was giving a bit when i tried, so went back to the mangled jack points

will give it a go as the photo above

The amount of times i take wheels on and off for track days, may have to get the jack points sorted- any idea how much?

My apoligies for the poor photo.
I had plates welded to the front subframe and can get 3 wheels off the ground at the same time.

Looks great- how much it cost you to get done?
About £30, + a subframe, as it was one of several little jobs I gave them at the same time..
All PH2 subframes are the same if you are looking to pick one up, before someone starts some nonsense about Cup`s being different.

cheers for the info- i'm a phase 1 172, but will ask Clioman (Trader) see if he can sort some better jackpoints for me
Anyone recommend a lightweight low entry trolley jack- under 10kg. A carry handle be nice too.
