182 look exhaust

anybody know what the ktec 182 look exhaust sounds like? i'm considering a 182 rear end possible front end if funds allow.

any what are peoples thoughts on a de cat exhaust system?

the reason im considering a replica is because insurance on an actual 1*2 for me would be insane

Either leave as is and change wheels, maybe lower it slightly, colour code, few cheap, subtle mods, etc., build up your no claims and save up until you can afford a RS.

If you really want a replica, have the know-how to do most of the work yourself, mates who can help keep the costs to a minimum and the like - fair enough. But I'd say do the front and rear or don't do either. Get all the body parts and fit them all at the same time so you're not driving around for ages with it half finished. And 172 not 182. Those fake 182 exhausts are really naff in my opinion. Why would anyone have an exhaust that takes such a tight bend around the spare wheel well just to get the twin tailpipe look? Seems really odd. I'd make a single cut-out in the bumper for a single tailpipe or keep it stealth. Also I'd say don't put the RS badges on the tailgate or the 2.0 16v on the doors (maybe smoothed silver for the doors?) that way you're not pretending the car is anything it ain't.

Just my thoughts, take them or leave them :)

dont go for the 182 rear end/exhaust look, it looks rubbish imo because its too obvious that the exhaust makes such a harsh bend, if you want to do a rep then i think they are cool, but they have to be done properly, there are a couple of really nice one's on here.

I wouldnt dare put 2.0l badges or sport badges on, it annoys the s**t out of me and looks pathetic when I see campuses with halfords 'sport' badges over the clio badge.... I even saw a 2.0l golf tdi with a halfords clio style sport badge over it....

My renewals due in december so I may see how much the insurance drops for a 1*2, if its much i'll hold out for another year till my cars payed off any buy one :D

I actually saw a really really badly done 182 replica the other day, the exhaust looked *poor quality* custom made, the left tailpipe was longer and thinner than the right and the right looked like it had a cover to make it fatter.

If I was going to do a replica I'd make sure it was top quality, I go to my mates dads garage frequently and theyre pretty cheap so they could fit the parts if I did get them all like.

And for the bullets and side strips I'm considering getting another set from the scrap yard and getting them colour coded along with the spoiler... and the 1.4 16v lettering done white, I'd be getting another set solely to have a bit of variation ( i get bored quickly lol)

Thanks for the comments though.

Advantage of getting a 182 style exhaust, you can find 182 rear bumpers easier than you can get 172 ones.
