182 mani on at last !

  Ph1
Bought my 182 manifold a few months back and finally got it all bolted up to the mk1 172 today.

Got a couple o mates on the job, one a mechanic and the other a welder. Cost me the grand total of 100 notes all done.

We also cut down and modded my Janspeed decat to fit to the system. Biggest job was getting hold of a gasket between the centre section and the decat !!

For some reason the exhaust sounds a whole lot quieter which is a bit strange. Got more of a quality growl now.

Cars booked in for a remap on Monday.

Only down size is we couldnt use the 182 cat for MOT time due to it being too long.

Here's a few pics.

50 foot of wrapping on that !! the wee tie's are a fiver each !!

God knows if it works but as i had the manifold sitting there and its only to be done once i thought why not plus i spoke to Andy GDI and he recommended i did it and apparently he's gonna be doing it to his 182 demo at some point.

any heat reduction is a bonus

oh god yeah, we did it on ours, took afd to do it, the wee tie's are a rip off, you should've used lock wire!

Can anyone give me a quick breakdown of what needs to be done to fit this?

remove subframe, remove old one, fit new one, bodge up a link pipe

job done, should only take you 10-12 hours!

With my expertise or yours .lol. What's a subframe?......:clown:

  Turbos.
My worry about wrapping the manifold is the quality of the metal used for making it (being OEM and Renault i'd presume not that great!).

Took about 5 hours to fit and about a hour all in to weld the zorst / mod the Janspeed decat.

Does make a noticeable difference to performance from what i felt although not booted it behond 3 thousand revs due to it running dangerously lean. Its in getting remapped now.

A while back there were 182 manifolds for sale on ebay every other week but now supplies seem to have dried up.

Finding one is more hassle than fitting one !!

Thats a damn good price that.

Just basic mechanic skills will see it fitted but it is a b**ch of a job and one that folk always say they'd never do again !!
