182 Manifold on Mk2 Ph1

  182, SQ7, Trafic
How easy is this to do? Purchasing a Mk2 Ph1 and wanted to know if its relatively easy as the 182 manifold doesn't seem to come apart anywhere!

thanks

screw doing it at home with a jack and some axel stands. Unless you can roll the car upside down. You want a car lift :)

edit: well i suppose it depends how much pateince you have, i hate working under cars due to all the crap you get in your face etc..

I can access a car lift if I need it!

How easy then lol?! And how do you get it in down or up?!

  Ph1
b**ch of a job to do but if you can get access to a ramp its half the battle.

If you dont want to mess about welding a link pipe / decat pipe Ktec have a off the shelf item which will save a bit of time

As mentioned the cat wont match up. I think you can buy a k-tec decat conversion pipe to use with the standard exhuast.

The 182 has a completly different exhaust system, the manifold on it is a big old thing that includes the down pipe, it then bolts to the 'straight' cat. The 182 cat is slightly further back and is joined to the rest of the exhaust by a U clamp.

The 172 manifold is joined about halfway down the down pipe to the cat via a sprung gasket join. Look on k-tecs website and compare a 172 decat pipe to a 182 decat pipe.

DECAT PIPE IS NOT A PROBLEM!

Just want to know if the manifold will go up through bottom of car to fit on!

My apologies I was just trying to make it clear a 182 manifold wont bolt onto a 172mk1 exhaust system.

With the subframe, roll bar and steering rack out the way it maybe a lot easier with the car high up fitting it from the bottom.
