182 Manifold

  182, SQ7, Trafic
You will see small gains from this, more torque than power, could for a few extra figures.

Only worth it if engine out though

if its just a replica of the 182 mani then good gains to be had, best mod i done to my old 172.

being a cheap copy though its not the ideal part to be changing if it doesnt stand up very well! different if it was at the front of the engine it could be worth a gamble.

I got a toyosport decat from that place as it was 2" in diameter ! Products are made with guesstimates and magic.

SSautochrome/XSpower s**te

I hate for my first ever post in the public forums to be telling a trader that he's wrong, but you are.

XS Power make some of the best and most effective manifolds on the market given their price point, I agree that their parts are hit and miss and it may not be the best item for this particular application. However in my previous experience of XS Power manifolds and downpipes they are brilliant and I would never dismiss them as cheap s**t or confuse a PROPER XS manifold with what you often see listed on Ebay.

oh please don't dare to lecture me on this stuff. I've fitted more than you could possibly imagine. I wrote the book on the correct way to do the manifold conversion to a 200sx s13 (relocating the ABS pump as it hit.......etc) One of their UK sellers gave me bits for free to trial fit to get it right.

Take my word, the majority is cheap and nasty with no quality control

I'm not arguing with you, and I don't care what you know, my personal experience of them is that they are a great product given their price point and that actually some of their products regardless of price are the best out there.

Their VAG 1.8t manifold is the best manifold on the market for that engine when using stock fitment turbo's. The achievable and repeatable figures are excellent, I've seen cars make more torque and more power at lower boost across a smoother power curve with no change but a manifold. I'm not wet enough to believe dyno lottery either. I've run them, I have 10's of friends who run them with 300+bhp 1.8t's, and IMO I would happily fit them.

This manifold and K04 hybrid has made over 300bhp on three of my friends cars over the last couple of years, still mint and works perfectly despite being passed from car to car -

I won't deny there's often gains. Usually lasts about 2000 miles until the turbo falls off

Your the first person to ever think XS Power stuff is good. It's all cheap tosh

It's probably because I've actually used the product and had my car mapped to suit, as apposed to sacking them off because of internet here-say. As I say, it isn't on a Clio but all the same the product itself is brilliant.

Have a GOOD search on google for 1.8t XS power manifolds before replying with a "they're s**t" post, I am not the only person who says otherwise.

In terms of reliability, the one in the video above is the original V1 manifold and is over 4 years old. You can see how hot it gets, and it's not cracked yet. That turbo and manifold has been on three of my friends cars and has made 338bhp across two reliable rollers, which is unheard of for a K04 hybrid (don't know how familiar you are with K04's). Similar setups have struggled to give 320bhp, the only variable has been the manifold.

I may have just been lucky, in that every XS product has used has been great. I've had a friend or two who have had issues, but for the price of them I don't think anybody would complain given the power gains on the applications I've seen.

I don't want to rub anybody up the wrong way, and I'm sorry if I have. But they are a good product.

-

Have a graph of an S3 with a standard K04, before the V2 1.8t K04 manifold came out it was unheard of to see more than 285bhp out of a K04 and due to them being small it was always a spike that tailed off.

This is a log that a tuner I know put up on facebook this morning, after his first mapping play with the new manifold. The load maps have shown 270bhp for the same readings on a THS cast hi-flow manifold.

PMSL

no experience......except the half dozen engines I've rebuild after bits of weld falling off the inside of manifolds, destroying turbos, and sending bits of metal into the valves

I have seen one or two where the welds haven't fully penetrated, and they are not back purged. But they were all inspected before fitting and replaced FOC. If you get hold of XS direct they have always seemed pretty good.

I have probably got between 15 and 20 friends running XS Power manifolds on 1.8t's, and one of them as I said has been making 330+bhp for the past three years without any cracking, welds departing or warping issues, and having run one myself and seen the massive benefits (when mapped in relation to the new flow) I would happily fit one to the applications I know, and would have no problems fitting one to my new car if it was documented to make an improvement. If it can deal with 900*+ in the hybrid applications I have been seeing them with the weight of a turbo hanging off them then a piddly N/A Renault engine should be ok. Does anybody on here actually have an XS manifold which has been mapped to suit? Or are we just going on what the butchers on Driftworks say?

Because so far we have had ToyoSports (who are the people in the link), SSautochrome and XS Power mentioned in this thread. The first two I woud dump into the cheap s**t box, but XS is a good brand.

Well from my understanding of XSP and SSA coming from mates who own Seat, VW, Honda and Audi and come from that type of online forums.

Their intercoolers and dump valves are ok but need better connections as their connection pipe clamps are not high tension and often have blew off from pipework aswell as split.

Also on a vortex forum, one member was advised about their reliablity and told not to do it, he did it anyway and within a week posted back that the turbo went pop and took some of the engine with it.

Also I know of some one who killed 2 turbo manifolds within 5k miles of each other and had to fight about their warrenty to get a replacement and then a refund.

General consensus is that its cheap tack china crap and that you get what you pay for, some times people do get one that is good and does not go pop even though their figures are good for some people 'Others' it is not so good.

Cheapness is a false economy now days, pay half and you could end up paying triple.
