Is there any foolproof way other than sourcing a NOS pump at the cost of about £300?

I am not saying you should or should not buy this - I've just glanced at it however I would personally feel much happier buying a pump from from someone like TRW assuming you can't get a genuine Nissan/Vauxhall/Renault one.

Thanks for the headsup on that one. Don't worry I won't be pointing fingers if something goes amiss.

Is it overheating that causes the failures? If so could you add a cooler to the pas lines?

Yes mate, well, technically no. Where the low pressure line changes to a hard pipe for about 12” behind the rad I basically binned off the hard pipe and put my cooler lines in there.
I think I’m going to go for that pump you shared. It’s got the same chance did being shite as the others but it’s cheaper and it’s TRW like you said, so chances are it’s going to be decent.

Thread bump to see if there's any new info out there & maybe contribute something useful - got a really really cheap 172 to daily, the pas pump sounds like it's dying & as I'm doing the belts on it I might as well replace the pump too. So no track use and I'm preferring to be 3.14-key as I've already been shafted enough by the genuine Renault stuff I've just bought for the belts etc

Managed to find this with some googling of the part numbers in here and I was already eyeing up the refurbed pumps before I found this thread so I'm inclined to take a punt on it depending if anyone here has thoughts on it

I've had a load of stuff going on and not got round to fitting mine I'm afraid.
