182 Middle Exhaust Section hanger.

  Clio 182
Hello all,

Just a quick, late, question.

I had a new middle exhaust section fitted to my 182 three weeks ago under warranty.

Earlier this week the exhaust on my 182 slipped off its middle rubber causing the sleeve joint between the middle section and the rear box to separate and causing the thing to sound like a farting bulldog.

I refitted it and then this weekend it did it again.

The middle rubber just slips onto a hanger on the middle exhaust section and isn't especially secure. It looks like there's a small thread in the end of the hanger, is this correct?

If so i guess the bolt that is meant to be there loosened and then fell off or ,more likely, the apprentice mechanic who fitted my new mid box lost it

Anyhow, Cheers.

Take it back to Renault and ask for it to get looked at again

There was no thread/bolt in my centre hanger when I removed it. I'd suggest that it has been fitted incorrectly, maybe now that it's been cut it's actually too short and will continue to drop off it's hanger? :S

I'd definitely be taking it back whilst it's till under warranty!

There is meant to be a 8mm bolt in the hanger on the centre section and the rear hanger. You done the right thing by taking it back!

cheers for confirming my suspicions guys.

It's in the workshop tommorow morning.

The only problem is they've given me a Ford Fusion TDCi as a courtesy car :(
