182 or trophy

  Audi S3 225
Hey im after a trophy but would like to no what the difference is between the 182 and the trophy, all i no is that the trophy doesnt have xenon's or washers. Does the trophy have abs if not does it have a better brake setup than the 182.

btw im coming from a mk1 172 which i loved untill it got written off by some punk, so i need another fun car to drive around, im thinking the trophy will be more fun to drive than the 182. But i also want a safe car and abs and other safety features are important.

Thanks

The Trophy is based on the Cup with suber shocks on.
Trophy has the same engine as a 182. But the 182 usually comes Full Loaded, ABS, Climate Cont etc.

For class and speed/power = 182
Speed, cornering + little bit of a wow factor = Trophy

  ST on the way...
Trophy only comes in red, has no CC just aircon, has cloth rear seats, lovely recaros up front, anthracite turinis and sachs dampers IIRC.

  Turbos.
If you can afford to splash the cash, go for the Trophy but personally i'd spend the circa 2.5k saved on toy boys.

The Trophy has both ESP and ABS.
It has Air Con and has Recaro seats which give a seating position 10mm lower than a Cup.
It has Anthracite Turinis with a different offset than the FF/Cup.
It has Sachs front struts with a front ride height 10mm lower than a Cup.
It has a V6 rear spoiler, which means that the tailgate doesn't open as far as the FF/Cup.
There were only 500 built.

Which one to buy?

Lots of people will tell you one thing and lots of other people will say the opposite.

My advice is this: If you want toys and a spot of comfort then go for a Full Fat. If you want exclusivity then go for a Trophy. The ride in the Trophy is quite harsh on the road, but it makes up for it in the bends. Don't worry about any differences in Power/Handling etc. because the power is the same and unless you are an absolutely brilliant driver (and lets face it, most people are not) then on the road you won't really notice any difference in handling.

Bear in mind, of course , that a Trophy will cost more.

They are the same offset as all other 182 wheels so I understand = ET45

i really like the look of the trophy and love the colour, but i could probably save some money and get a low milage full fat 182. Just hope i dont have as many problems like i did with my mk1 172, man that car cost me alot of cash but its french so its expected, anyway think ive made up my mind gonna start looking for 182's. Thanks peeps.

Either the 182 FF or Trophy should have majority of the warranty left so any probs just drop it back to the dealer!

This is from the Renault press release when the Trophy was introduced:

[FONT=Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The wheels are Speedline Turini in anthracite (these are the same design to those used on the Renaultsport 172 Cup, though with a different offset and new colour). These wheels save 1.3kg each and this reduction in the unsprung weight further improves the wheel control and therefore handling.

I hadn't noticed that it said they had a different offset than the 172 specifically, if the 182 wheels are actually the same then that is my mistake. Thank you for pointing it out. :D
