182 rattle.. (maybe exhaust)..

When car sits still on idle, can hear a large annoying rattle down the rear end. Thought it was the exhaust, you then rev it slightly and the rattle goes away, back to idle and it comes back

Not long ago had a new centre section as that was rattling, and inc new clamps, looks like it could be the rear box..

Thank god for warranty, but the thing sounds stupid.


Gonna take it to renault in the morning to get it diagnosed so they can order the bits, wont take verbal confirmation over the phone what it is. Prob tell me to bugger off as its not booked in, so they cant spend 5 mins looking at it to tell me what it is..

Might be it just tapping the heatshield, mine does this just now when cornering... putting a new clamp on 2morrow so will prob sort it then.

Yep had this happen before,could the centre section again or could be heatshield knocking

Mine rattles too, tempted to cut the fker off!

My exhaust ocasionnally knocks on heat shield around middle of the car. But the worst was the other day, when I stamped the brakes and the ABS cut in, the exhaust made this massive bang. Any idea why? Somehing to do with the engine mounts moving when I brake hard?

They made it quieter but its still there..

rang the dealer again, still no space to book it in to have it repaired..

Have a rattle/knocking noise on when when it is below 3000rpm and still get a noise even when the engine is off. Must be the centre section cooling down or something but it sounds awful.

the 182 is a brillaint car, but the build quality is on par with my old VTR.

sounds silly check the engine cover too. i used to have a rattle that bugged fcuk out me and thats what it was,

And the fuel rail cover... rattled like a bugger and i always thought it was the engine cover.

Myine is more of a bang. And the noise is definately underneath the car. Its by the CAT I think. Gonna go Demon tweeks and order some strong exhaust mounts
