182 Spare wheel?

  Audi S4 Avant
Has anyone gone for a steel wheel as a spare for a 182?

Reason im asking as i was looking to keep one as a replacement for that deodorant tin in the glove box in my 182!

If so, what size of wheel did you use (other than another alloy)? I was thinking a 14" steelie with a fat tyre to keep to the 16/45 size on the car at the moment? Or along those lines if you know what i mean as its just a cheap alternative for an emergency.

Cheers

A Vauxhall space saver will fit, But you'll have to make the centre hole bigger to fit the hub.

Vauxhall fitments same as Renault? That would do the trick, ive the tools for doing the centre at work. Anyone know where to find a tyre sizing chart that would show the size needed to make 14"/15" wheel equal to my 16/45/205 wheel?

AA Roadside cover - £34.

Can't be arsed lugging a wheel around.

They wont come to you with a spare wheel will they ? :S

Cos if they dont and your tyres physically damaged you'd be screwed :(

What a stupid ideas Renault giving a can of tyre foam, what if you have a hole or someting ?

A 14'' will not fit even if it is fitted to other standard smaller engine clio's. The disc on the clio sport is big and i belive the smallest size you will get on is a 15''. Have you thought about a Megane wheel? Remember needs to be 4 stud.

Hope this helps.

A thread form the dead.

No, the AA will laugh at you I'd imagine. If you pay the extra £60 odd for relay, they may tow your car home or to a tyre place possibly?

I'm looking about for a 15 or 16 clio wheel for a spare for longer journeys, at the mo I borrow my g/f's if I go more than 30 miles. As I'm not driving 50 miles home at 30mph on that crappy tyre weld stuff.

Yep - sworn to get a suitable spare for mine after spending best part of 3 hours on the M4 hard shoulder recently as the recovery service initially couldnt find my record; tried and failed to haul the car onto the little fold out trailer dolly; gave up on the proper recovery vehicle as it was stranded 50 miles away.....so got me to crawl up the hard shoulder (another puncture anyone?!) so we could take the wheel off on the off ramp and go to a tyre fitters.

Tyre weld was useless and the guy confirmed what I was thinking - doesn't matter how quickly you notice and pull over, damage will be done. That stuff is likely to only be useful for e.g. coming out of the house to a tyre thats gone flat overnight.

It will fit on the back so just swop fornt to back if you burst a front as such.

Cost and weight saving. plus space for the exhaust
