Mazda RX8
So we bought the car in May with the ESP (skiddy car triangle in amber) and SERV lights on the dash. The seller told me that it was for sure a £15 replacement FNS wheel position sensor required. Anyway I ended up going to EuroCarParts and it was a £90 part that needed ordering in (specific to the Clio with cruise control and ABS i think) and we were about to go travelling for a month. Anyway we got back and had it replaced at the garage and this made no difference what-so-ever.
We then went to a local specialist for this fault and the fact that the PAS wasn't working. They plugged their diagnostic code reader in and said that it was the steering angle sensor and to leave it with them and they would find out if it just needed a steering angle sensor as potentially that could fix the PAS also. They had the car a week and replaced the PAS pump (without calling us to ask or tell) and when we were told it was ready and went to collect we then had a £350 bill for a replacement PAS pump (which was and still is whining) and they told us that it needs a new squib as the steering angle sensor was not working but they recommended getting a second hand one as they are £170 new and they could not source one.
When you start the car there was no lights. As soon as you turn the wheel slightly the ESP and SERV lights came on and the fault reader reads a steering angle sensor error. Anyway after months of trying I finally sourced a 182 steering angle sensor on eBay. I've just fitted it, ensuring that the yellow colour was centeral in the spy glass when the steering was facing forward and when I start the car the ESP and SERV lights stay on, regardless of steering wheel movement, unlike before. I've had it off and on several times trying to cure this and i've even left the battery off for 24 hours thinking it may need resetting or something then turned it on again and we have the same problem.
I've searched this forum to death and i am absolutely baffled. Can anyone shed some light our way as I'm about to start cutting myself? I suspect maybe the squib i got on eBay was broken already, but the seller had 100% FB with big numbers of sales and it came in the post cable tied together so it couldn't accidentally turn.
Please help!
