182 stolen!!! Help!!!!

some people are just plain stupid. What is the point of stealing your car. It is a very rare car which can easierly be spotted and won't be able to sell on without getting caught out. I've just looked at your orginal post. They stole it at 21:15 on a Friday night. That is crazy coz theres so many people about at that time. I know it won't make matters worse but these are worse thiefs in the world.

With your car being so rare and colour the police should pic it up if they open there eyes.

Rare to us maybe, but as odd as it sounds, 75% of people out there will just see it as a normal orange/red Clio. Thats why its a good idea to get it on the car forums, when you know what one is you spot one a mile off.

I hope its sorted real quick, if its relatively new it will be an absolute nightmare trying to replace for new as there are only a few unregistered ones left

You've no idea how much s**t like this winds me up. It's the nerve of them to steal the car in the first place. They clearly weren't opportunists who walked along and thought 'we'll knick that'. They've probably had their eyes on it for a while and watched the times for the house lights to go out - people leaving and entering, etc. They may have even looked through the kitchen window on previous times to suss-out if the keys where within reach.

My wife said if the same happened to us, I should just give them the keys. I would probably only do that if they were armed, there were several of them or they made a direct move for my wife. It's fine to say that it's only a £10k car and it's not worth fighting back for - but that's the 'game' for most of them. The shock-tactics of doing what they are doing when in reality, a good percentage of them are spineless t***s.

Shame that if you did nail the s**t who knicked your car, you would be the one in trouble....

Not really 'stupid'. If it was stolen to order the chances are they've already been payed for the heist and its either sitting in a warehouse somewhere or its already out of the country. Think about it.

my keys are normally kept downstairs in a room not visable from teh outside, but the missus seems to not listen to me at all and leaves them on the kitchen worktop all the time..... really pees me off, hers is a nice 4x4 too.

Thanks guys & gals for the comments no news on the motor. Policeman was genuienly very helpful, however, they dont hold much hope and neither do I tbh. Dont want it back. Just looked at a trophy to try and cheer myself up.

Hope it all gets sorted for you mate. Unfortunatley it's a sign of the times we're living in, in the last year this has happened to 3 people I know. all by the same method... house broken into and the keys pinched. Most recent one was my next door neighbours V5 Golf. I think the thing is you have to make the car look a pain in the a*se to pinch, so they go looking elsewhere. Steering locks, crook-locks, gear locks, everything should be used to act as some sort of deterent...... Oh and a fookin hungry pitbull sitting on the back seat!!

If I had just been awake I would have done them some serious damage

When I got it back it was fucked needed a new engine and everything ended up scrapping it

so heartbroken, it would have been worth a bomb now as well

Heres hoping you have protected no claims, gap insurance and renault can find you another one

After reading this thread the GAP insurance that i bought with my 182 doesn't seem such a bad idea now! Defo gonna look into some sort of anti-hi jack system also!

I'll also make sure that i take the car and garage keys into my bedroom at night even more than i used to!

The only answer these days if you have a nice car is to have a garage - and keep the car in it every night. Out of sight, out of mind.

Northy and his g'friends cars got taken on 24 October and his g'friend has just recently got her money from the insurance....I think it's 2 weeks the car has to be missing before u can start your claim.....gunner should be able to confirm.
