Hi I'm looking to buy a 182 trophy, I've found one with 55k miles and for £4400 does this sound about right? It is on pistonheads if anyone could check it out and let me know what they think that would be great help!Thanks

Looks ok but without seeing more detail it's hard to say. The key things are the service history - have the belts been changed as & when they should have, and by either Renault, or an independent Renaultsport specialist? And are the dampers in good working condition, or have they ever been refurbished in the lifetime?

The exhaust isn't standard, looks like it could be a K-Tec/Janspeed one, and the gearknob has been modified too. What else on the car has been changed?

Definitely worth a look, though.

There is a for sale section, to be honest you are going to start struggling to find lower mileage T's for sale for a reasonable price as the only recent T for sale is up for £5,995 and is on 56k. The next recent is up for £4,495 at 76k.

Unless of course you are prepared to wait a while for the right example at the right money.

what do you think of that?

Is low mileage an important factor for you? Because you are basically paying a £2k premium for that one, just because it hasn't done many miles.

It looks ok though, but one thing to bear in mind is that there's no mention of the dampers being refurbished, which will cost in the region of £400 if they need doing.

This does not have the bumper stickers either.

They should come with small black stickers like below

Hi, I'm a bit new to this forum and also clio ownership but I'm struggling to understand the worry of the bumper stickers. What if the previous owner/owners just got the bumper resprayed due to stonechips etc, I own an audi a4 too and have recently resprayed the front bumper on that due to stone chips because I like it to look its best.

Not meaning to get anyone's backs up just a new owner a bit curious really

I know it sounds like we are being funny. It is just pointing out to a new owner it has been resprayed at some point, and is worth checking to make sure it is nothing sinister lurking beneath.

This.

A forced respray as a result of front-end damage is quite a different proposition to an elective respray for aesthetics.

Prefer lower milage since will last me longer in long term! And yes he said dampers where okay when he went for MOT, how do I check if they are worn or about to go?

Some idiot;) on here told me to just do the usual check of pushing down on each quarter and if it bounces it's fucked!

Hard to tell if they are about to go, weeping oil or large amounts of oil deposit on the damper is a sign. Or open the drivers/passenger door, stand on the sill and bounce the car up and down. If it moves alot then they are on the way out / gone, if you get very little movement then they are ok.

This is how I check mine anyway! haha

My advice would be to buy on condition and not mileage. Better to have a Trophy that's done 60k and been very well looked after, than one on 30k with dodgy Sachs and patchy history or the belts done by a random, for example.
