182 v 197 v 200

  Audi A5
I never consider resale or the next owner. I just enjoy it while it's mine.

each to their own i guess. see with me i dont like looseing too much on cars (i know call me boring) thats why i dont like the idea of buying a newish renaultsport because the price's just drop rapidly.

That doesn't bother me in the slightest. When you own cars for as long as I do, they're purely for enjoyment.

No point in flopping about worrying about resale. Lol.

I'll just do it again in another four or five years.

Depending on money obviously. If i was loaded and could justify it, yea a 200. But failing that, I'd be more than happy with a 182, they're still beautiful cars.

My thought process was; if you're spending that kind of money on a Clio then you might as well not skimp on the options.

lol. I had the same mentality when speccing a new one up - if you are chucking 20 grand at it, whats another few hundred quid for all the options ... I literally ticked everything  As such, its rather amusing that i'm ending up with a cup, that doesnt even have aircon !!!

Lee's talked me through the Bluetooth system and sent me the handbook by PDF.

It looks awesome though, no more messy wires for phone calls and music playback. Your iPhone stays right in your pocket.

I nearly didn't tick the Bluetooth option as well.

I've also found out how to deactivate the keyless entry/go. So no moving it at Le Mans without my knowledge now...

Haha, I never tested how close you had to be.

I heard it was a few metres and I'm sleeping in the tent next to it so was worried. lol.

You're better off using the USB connection for music playback though, otherwise it's dog slow and you don't get track names. The phone connectivity stuff is really good. Bluetooth for calls. Plus it's on charge then too.

Shall I just buy a short 30-pin to USB lead then?

I bought a 20cm for my Mac and it's probably the perfect length. I hate clutter.

Probably best. Look at the pic I stuck on FB at the weekend and you'll see my normal length iPhone cable. I want one of those cup holder mounts. That'll be better than leaving it rattling around.

The only reason not to have a 200 (From that choice) is that you can't afford it/don't want to spend that money.

It's the best one. The people who say that the 182 is best or the 197 is best, is because they have that car and don't want to spend more on a better one.

I desperately want one, but have yet to find anywhere that sells them or anything similar. I did consider buying a dock and trying to make one, but then remembered I'm useless at that sort of thing! I'll be needing help to fit my number plates at the weekend. LOL

wouldnt it be cheaper to buy an ipod dock and fit it to your car yourself?

beaten lol.

you can buy docks like that, itd just be a case of plugging it into your HU and feeding it through your dash somewhere i imagine

Take some pics when you've fitted them?

No need in the 200, the USB socket is right next to the cupholders. It's just the dock itself that's needed.

If it's nice Sunday I'll give it a clean and take it somewhere to get some pics Chris. Other than my drive!

Good man. You going to CSS? I'll call in at yours on the way down if so?

I should be going yeah. Sounds like a plan.

aah alright, can you post up a pic of the usb port?

This is the only pic I've got of mine, but the flap is closed. There's a USB socket and a jack socket behind there. If you don't have the Tunepoint installed I believe there are two phono sockets instead.

No RS Monitor? Just saw there's no mahoosive stalk for it.

I used to get lost on the 182 with six buttons. The RS monitor/music stalk has about twelvety.

Mine has the RS Monitor. The controls are obscured by the wheel. It's not a massive stalk, more a wheel with some buttons round it. You hold the two buttons you can see to activate the monitor. The only things I don't have are parking sensors, carbon dash inserts and sat nav, because of the RS Monitor.

One thing that's odd in the 200 is there's a space on the dash for the Cruise control button, same as in the 1*2. But for some reason it's down by the handbrake.

Edit: I had a picture of the controls:

Ahh! I remember it being huge. To be fair though, everything's relative.

I only ordered the RSM because it was a dealer freebie. Quite looking forward to having an extra toy though.

What is an RS monitor and what does it do?

It's pretty pointless TBH, but a nice gadget to show your mates!

It basically shows cornering and braking g forces, 0-62 1/4 mile time, engine power and torque output, oil temp, lap time and optimal gear. It's pointless on the road, unless someone else is looking at it.

I've probably only used it 5 or 6 times, and most of those were to show someone else.
