182 virgin from Devon with a few questions

Greetings!
Bought this beauty a week ago and pleased with it thus far

took a chance after doing the necessary checks and drove to sc**thorpe from plymouth to check this beauty out that has covered only 31000 miles! Pretty standard with the addition of scorpion cat back exhausts and i57 k&n.
I've already found the forum bloody useful and already sorted the cigerette lighter/radio switching off issue being a fuse. Strange thing is that there wasn't even a fuse in there but there was a spare? Weird.
When I collected the car it was pointed out to me that the both plastic trim around the exhausts were in bad shape i.e. Had melted and was half hanging off. I ordered these from renault and felt like I'd been bum raped by King Kong after handing over a shade over £50. After firmly clipping these into place, I couldn't quite make out how these became so fried? I keep checking them after a drive and still seem fine. The trim is easily 10mm from the pipes and the exhaust isn't loose. Hopefully this isn't something that will reoccur?
Also got a buzzing sound coming from the inside light cluster on the roof when I put the keys in the ignition. From my research on the forum, could someone confirm it is some kind of motor for the climate control and can be easily fixed even by a thick tw*t such as myself?
I've wanted a 182 for a while ever since a young lad had one down the road and I thought .... Yeah, I think I love that. This is my second car, my first being a 1.2 clio dynamique. Strange sitting in pretty much exactly the same c**kpit then starting the engine and that's where the similarities end!
I think it's a full fat version is it? Someone will correct me if I'm wrong I'm sure. I want to keep it pretty standard but open to very subtle mods suggestions.
I will as a precaution soon get the timing and aux belt done. Anyone know of a specialist in devon/cornwall?
Thanks dudes and dudesses

Thanks nik, Crikey this is an active forum! Great to see. Shaftsbury eh? Was there not too long ago on a week break. Nice part of the country!

Welcome, I presume we have another Plymouthian in our midst?

Buzzing noise is the climate fan, gets full of dust.

You've got a 182 with cup suspension but I can't quite see if that's a cup spoiler? If it is, then you have a FF.

Your local specialists are Pure Motorsport in Padstow and SJM Automotive in Somerset.

Hey hey! In the 'muff'! Love it. I'll have to get that climate fan sorted at some point. I don't think mine is the cup spoiler after looking at one earlier. The brake light in the middle looks different.
Thanks for the welcome one and all. I no longer feel like a virgin.

Ha yeah I know it is amusing. Wouldn't even let me say c**t or f**k head or t**t. How does one vent his frustration or anger when life just gets too much?

As McGherkin says it'll be the climate control fan that gets clogged and noisy, clean it out and lube it up.

As for melted bumper trims, that is a new one to me, god knows what would have caused that I haven't seen that happen to any!\

As for cup packs - it looks to have the suspension package (from the Anthracite wheels), but you don't appear to have cup spoiler (or a splitter), so it's nearly a FF (a cup spoiler is easy to get on here, around 120 or so). As for splitters, Skoda do a splitter for around 12 quid which fits near perfectly (requires trimming with scissors on the ends), but is MUCH cheaper and more resistant to damage (rubber vs plastic), compared to the 120 quid Renault equivalent!!

Thanks mate. Can u point me in the direction of any pics for the splitter and spoiler? Is the climate control fan easy to access and just a case of cleaning? I've tried to find help with this one before asking.
Yeah it was those plastic exhaust trims that melted but new ones are holding up ok. Hopefully I won't see that problem now. If so then I'll need to take steps to make an adjustment somewhere or rather a garage will! Rather than me.
So what I've got is a 'semi fat' 182?

Tons of pictures on here for the splitter: https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=s...ao0QXEnIGwAw&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ&biw=1920&bih=995

BJust adds a little bit to the bottom of the car to make it feel lower, and replicates the original without the pricetag :]

As for spoiler - search for "cup spoiler" in the marketplace.

As for the fan I've never actually done it, just read that's a thing thats occuring recently (and now no longer have a Clio).

I'd say its a 182 with Suspension Cup Pack, but then as soon as you get the splitter + spoiler (if you choose to), just call it a FF :)

Welcome to the forum mate :)

I had a Titanium 182, the colour is amazing when clean, love the flake!

Here's a pic of mine with the cup spoiler so you can see the difference....

Looks great dude with that spoiler. I'll get one of those. The paint finish is nice. Is that the name if the factory finish 'titanium'?

Thanks again all. Great help and I'll give that climate control sensor a go. Seems straight forward enough. Good instructions.
