197 cams

Car  Golf GTD Mk7
Has anyone ever put these in a 1*2 engine? The only reason I ask is that there was a formula renault engine (f4r) for sale on ebay running 197 cams. Are the profiles that different to OEM?

the profile is designed to be used with constantly variable timing. Did look at doing it ages back and decided the only worthwhile way would be to use a 197 style VVT pulley, and adding a cam sensor, (or using the entire 197 head) They wouldn't be a worthwhile drop in fitment IMO

Interesting. Not sure if this engine had different pullies, but it would make sense. Thanks Danny

by the time you **** about with it and spend a fortune, you can gain the same/more power in others ways

just tryin to think of alternative mods mate. how long would it take to set my coilies up and rough idea of cost plz mate? nothings siezed either.
