197 cup racer cage fitted (trial)

  172 5HED
Went to see my good mate Icarus aka Matt on Sun where we battled with the cage!!!

What was over 1ks worth of cage was hacksawed down to get it in the rear!!! (was LHD at the front anyway so no good to me)

Its in for now!!!

It needs the cut edges grinding off and needs re spraying but a sneak peak of what it will look like for you!!

Nigh on 2K's worth of cage Kev ;-)

Plan is for Kev to get his local Metal dude to grind the front half connectors off then powder coat it along with welding in the risers for the cage to bolt to forming a proper rear cage. It picks up the rear damper points as per the Cup Racer as well so high spring rates whilst rumbling kerbs etc. are no issue here.

With what Kev has planned for the car it is going to be the b****cks - no ifs, no buts the absolute b****cks!!! Big power, as caged as you can realisticaly and still use it on the road and a bloody good looking car.

Cheers

Cheers all!!

It would fit a TCE mate but good luck finding one and expect to pay over £1000 for it!

This car better actually see some trackdays now, not fart about for twenty minutes at FCS each year!

LOL, how rude :rasp::rasp:

It was on for over an hour at FCS, granted it was in 20min segments!!!!

It will be playing track as much as I can but untill its finished it may be in bits or away etc.... It'll get there!!;)

Nice to see you and the iceman on Sunday kev. It's certainly looking well. I can't wait to see what else you've got lined up for it.

Any time mate, as I said, you can have a proper drive!

Think of all the extra weight!!!!

Not much mate, thats why it costs in excess of £1k Proper cage this!!

Fitted one into our spare X85 shell today actually! Proper cage, Matter stuff is the b****cks.

One spare still in white ;)

Looks well ;)

Are you fittng the front 1/2?

I've just fitted a full cup racer cage in the Trophy, i tried all sorts to get it in, in 1 piece but no joy, i ended up having to cut the rear harness bar out (one between the arches)
I also opted to have it welded in rather than bolted, so welding in a new harness bar was no trouble, I just need too get the car stripped down and painted now :D

Ta mate, nah, only the back half, front half is LHD and one of the bars has taken a knock!:S

Can imagine mate, I did it on my own but its literally a bare shell on axle stands so just needs a bit of twisting around.

Front half, why dont you just keep it as is and cut the coloumn mounts out? Easier to get in and out of the drivers side then, let the passenger f**k around over the X bar ;)

Hmm, could do I suppose! TBH I may save the weight and just keep it as is, its not going to do any FIA stuff etc (good job now its cut) ;)

Front cage defo not needed LOL - I think Kevs plan is to go as far down the race car for the road route as possible without totally ruining the useability ;-) Plus to get the front cage into a road car its dash out or remove the dash bar from the cage.... which compromises the front cage section A LOT.

Rear half does the all important harness mounts and rear damper mounts so jobs a goodun there :)

Without a doubt it's a total git to fit it in a road car though, especialy with the doors on, the dash in and a screen in place!!! Still patented BPM/TDF modification worked wonders and it fits a treat now, even with the standard roof lining in place LOL

Cheers
