197 Cup Spoiler Rant..

Anyone that doesn't agree, please please tell me your views.

Right, the 197 cup spoiler is pure wrong, its the worst piece of standard add-ons i could ever think of.

Why is it that when some gets a 1.0 clio/corsa/fiesta etc and they put a halfords spoiler people shoot them down for being scally/chav. Thus including me, (without the name calling) as it looks s**t.

Yet people go out and buy a 197 with the cup spoiler, that looks no different to the halfords s**t you get, and say it looks good ?

Cause it doesn't, it looks just as chav/scally as barrys 1.0L corsa with a halfords spoiler on !

I just don't understand how contradictive people can be ?

Anyway, rant over. 197 cup spoiler is HORRID, and ruins a great car.

It suits the styling of the car in some cases ie. white 197 cup's.

I can't compare it to a supra/integra because they are not in the same league.

It doesn't suit it, that is the point, only suits the cup racers, marginally. But no one has them.

No you are right a 197 is in the same league as a fiesta and a corsa.

Granted it's not to everyones taste but it isn't a halfords stick on spoiler and with the right mods it doesn't look out of place.

No, it was a quick example of what people think the 197 is in the same league as, from reading various threads on here. As i was asking what league you think the 197 is in ? As i am 'plain stupid' for thinking the 197 and VXR are similar.

It looks remarkably similar to those of Halfords, but quite obviously not the same.

Anyway thought you and your opinion were leaving this thread ?

I think yours looks a lot different from the above, all in my opinion though.

Sorry i haven't seen a thread on this, just various comments in peoples thread. I didn't want to ruin other peoples threads.

Dude post away, you could argue that the 200 dont need it as they have made a nicer job of the bum and thats the feature. The 197 may need its as it doesnt have the extended exhausts

granted they're 200s, but still I personally think the subtle changes make an overall huge difference to the two on the thread above. Which is why I think it suits the cup racer, and doesn't suit the road car.

Your right it would, but then they dont have the hugely flared front arches and rear arches, or diffuser etc.

As for the rest of your post, I think you need to look again, they are the SAME car, as I said above, only real difference is ride height and roof scoop and colours. Yes some are stickered up and yes the race car has a cage, but lets face it, you cant really see the cage from outside the car unless you are looking up close.

It just looks fat, overweight and shapeless from the rear without it.

If I ever had a 197, it would be the very first option I would add (assuming it wasn't there in the first place.)
