197 First Service

Car  Clio 197 cup
Just rang the stealers for a price on the first service and I got quoted £210.

Is this a fair price or should I be looking elsewhere?

The car is just under 18 months old so I really want to get the book stamped as I'm thinking of trading it in the near future.

that dont sound to bad tbh mate,

ring round and get a few quotes from others, then see if your dealer will beat/match the best price, ?

worth a shot,

Will give that a go Chappo, thanks :)

Tbh the stealers are a short walk from my work so it would be ideal to get it done there regardless but if I can get a cheaper price and still get it done at the stealer I'm on to a winner!

The person I spoke to said first service includes, oil change, filters, engine flush, the usual check point list and washer fluids checked/topped up.

For £210 I would want the receptionist to provide some stimulation while paying too! Service prices are getting bloody stupid now

it is 12k or 1 year i thought? so by my estimates yours is 6 months overdue.

price is pretty normal tbh. overpriced, but all renault services are a ripper.

the clock is only showing 9800 miles so would I be thinking the engine management has flagged up and unnecessary service? :S

If a lights come up on the dash it means somethings broke, not that it needs a service??

And if it is 1 years or 12k for service your warranty is now void to. (pretty sure it's 2 years though)

It just says service now due when I start the car, goona have to dig out the service book and have a read this weekend me thinks! :)

Boosh where is Birchdown based?

service interval is 12000mile/12month whichever comes first

as for engine oil flush - say NO - waste of time !

birchdown is in cheshire mate. They will stamp your book etc and are a renault specialist without the rip off prices. I will also drive over with you as i need my thermostat housing fixing

Don't you have to get a Renault Dealer to service your car so you can get the 3 year warrenty cover.

That was what i got told then I brought mine last year?

I thought you were allowed to use renault approved people who use renault approved parts? Im not sure now

Just have to use genuine parts and a vat registered company.

I think it voids your anti corosions warranty though.

But what cars going rusty anyway.

I will give them a ring 2moro matey and get a quote, pretty sure that they are gonna beat the stealer but just need a rough price.

I know it's probably a daft question mate but will it affect the resale if it's not stamped by renault is it?

I'd be more worried by the fact it was 6 months overdue before it got serviced.

I know mate this is concerning me now, always had minis with the tlc pack so never really had to worry about servicing until now.

I'm sure it's 2 years though, 1*2s are

My cars 5 years old and only had 2 services.

Ryan just get it done dont worry about it. Its only an oil/filter change any way. Yeh its over due but it isn't like its a belt change so there isn't really a massive issue. gimme a text when you know who you are going with ryan and if its birchdown il get my car booked in too.

Will do fella :)

Why didn't you get it serviced after a year?

Because I was going on the 12000 mile factor and considering that I haven't done that yet it never crossed my mind mate. It's only now that it has actually flashed up on the display that I have acted upon it :)

Got mine done for £167 at a local dealers, know not so long ago mike griffths on rs forum at lookers chester were offering them for £150

Managed to get the stealers down to £190 plus they are local so I can drop car off and walk to work.

Birchdown have quoted £156 but due to petrol costs it wouldn't be far off £190 by the time I had finished plus I get the renault stamp if I go to the stealers so I think i've made my mind up :)

Thanks for all the info :)

those KTec prices are pretty good!

on my 197 mine cost me £230 iirc from renault main, car had only done 5k miles!

The k-tec prices are really good but it's gonna cost me a fortune in petrol to get to Dorset from Sheffield so after petrol it would be getting back to the £200+ range :)

Got the car serviced today, ended up going to the stealer but I did manage to get the price down to £189 which I was quite happy with :)

I thought for those prices they might have given it a quick wash but it came out more filthy than when it went in :dapprove:

lol, i know mate but a quick blast with the pressure washer wouldn't have hurt.

I would have requested the gritty sponge to be left in the workshop though :)

servicing intervals on the 197's are 12k or 12 months whichever is the sooner. i believe the 172/182 is 12k or 2 years.

the servicing will not void the warranty within the first 3 years but would definately affect you chances of renault ever paying out for repairs after the 3 year warranty is up.
