Car garages are awesome to work at, you get to talk about cars all day and sit round getting paid to talk!

I've had enough of the hours though, with a young family to look after

If they pass the EU law next year you would only be allowed to work 48hrs,would that be better

I assume you mean EU working time directive ? Thats been in place since 1998 in the UK and it's only optional . If it was enforced lots of places would simply go out of business .

well if you drive at 70 everywhere you will do. if you drive it normally expect 26mpg tbh.

That's outrageous!

My Cup when it used to commute regularly gave me 40 (now it's retired it's averaging 31) and I even get 25-28 out of my Omega.

Sounds like something's wrong somewhere?

26 is really bad i dont know why these are so bad - driving like a dickhead im getting about 28mpg in the 182 i have seen 43 though and i reckon 45-46 is possible!! :D

i would suggest actually working out properly and not go by the computer as it lies. if your computer says 28mpg it is probably getting 27 maybe? maybe it is just a problem with the 197's computers lying.

26mpg truly shocking.

Mates monaro is 17-20 day to day thats blatting and cruising all in. Thats a 6.0 v8 though, not a 2.0 4 pot lol.

  Clio 197
I used to get 28mpg out of my pre-remap meggy 225. The new ones are even better on fuel!

My 182 used to get me 300 miles on £40 of fuel, with regular revving into the zone - not bad if you ask me.

Sounds like the 197 is totally unrelated to the 1*2 it replaced - expensive car, and expensive to run (as opposed to being cheap thrills).

interesting read the fact different cars dive different MPG.

in my 172 with normal unleaded 35-37 litres got me 200 miles....usually get 260-280 for that!

i don't drive it like some granny for 26mpg. I drive it and red line it daily, i ain't on the motorway at 69mph watchig the fuel gauge! lol

We have to sign a piece of paper before we work to say that we are willing to work more than 48 hours per week. Thats been in place for the time that i've been there.

On the flip side to that. My journey to work is 3 miles tops, so the car doesn't warm up properly, hence the s**t consumption i'm getting.

I dont really think the mpg is suprising considering how high the revs would be sitting on the motorway at 80+mph with the really close ratio first 197 gearbox...

There should be a much better mpg with the new improved gearbox in terms of fuel consumption at motorway speeds.

Same...

Its easy to achive 30+ mpg on the motorway driving at a constant speed or 70mph but if you enjoy 'pressing on at some mph' and a good few back road blasts you'll see an average of mid to late 20's...

If people want high mpg buy a fvckin diesel!!

Yes it uses more fuel than my 182 but do i care?? No because its a better car in every way, the drive alone is night and day..
