197 head unit>V6 255

Right, I am wanting to have a standard looking head unit in my car(as i hate the look of after market ones). I want my CD changer and hand controls to work BUT.............

I want to plug my SONY WALKMAN into the head unit via a cable(like the ones that are on ebay)

Will the 197 head unit fit alright(think it will) and will the plastic colour match my dash(V6 255)

AND................ Will it be able to work with all of my controls etc.

If not any ideas :S

You can get a plug to use a walkman with the standard one too. Or maybe that's just an iPod

it will be the one that just has a 3.5mm jack on the end for use with anything that outputs via a 3.5mm jack, problem is you have to change tracks etc on the device then, i.e, you'd have to change track on the phone

Renault sell a plug that goes between the standard head unit and an iPod. It uses the CD changer socket though

Headunit from new shape clio's eg 197 and meganes etc will NOT fit. Although the stereo body in the standard size the front of the stereo is not. Its not that much bigger say 5mm or so on height and width but big enough to stop it from fitting.

Blakey is yours the tunerlist or update list model? if its the update list it will have an aux input on the back allowing you to connect it up.

If yours is the update list it will fit.

As far as I am aware there is no aux input on the tuner list models, maybe worth pulling the headunit out and having a look.

Yes, mine has as I'm using the aux port for a CD changer.

Yep 2005+ 182's have the "Update List" with the revised in dash wiring.

Just had a look at this. Looks like the one i need........What would i need to do to my car regarding the wiring(what has changed?) or is it a case of just fitting then adding the aux lead?

These cables only work on the Update list head unit (these can be bought on ebay for £30 ish.

Gumpy yes you can call the cd changer an aux input, but he wants to keep the cd changer working.
Tuner lists have cd input
Update lists have cd changer + AUX input
