197 Service

Right my 197 inst too far from its 1st Birthday (about 1.5 months) and I just wanted to check what's to deal with regards to servicing.

Don't shoot me down if this is a stupid question but when should I be looking at getting it serviced.

Is it after 12 months what ever the milage or is it when the trip comp says which is still around 6.5k to go lol - 12k basically.

You've only done 5,500miles in nearly a year??! Mines on 5,600 and I only got it in September!

It is low, my 172 does around 15-16k per year.

Its probably because I haven't been on any CS meets in the 197 lol

Who on earth told you that?! Cheapest I have seen first service for is £160. Most dealers quote circa £200

Yeah I had a look on Renault earlier at the prices and it was more than that, £170 I think. I think I will be taking it down to Birchdown though

Oh and this will be getting VT done on the agreement after 2.5 years, that's how I role lol.

Will lose corrosion guarantee by not having it done at main dealer. unless you book in at the main dealer for them to just inspect the body work...

Right ok didn't know that. Will I be able just to book it in to inspect the body work.

What sort of price would you be looking at?

Renault Wolverhampton has servicing facilities

Well I have just spoken to Renault St Helens regarding the corrosion guarantee and not having the car serviced by Renault and they couldn't see a problem with that. They reckon it wouldn't have an affect on your guarantee. They did advise however to check with Renault Uk which I shall be doing shortly

According to Renault Uk it shouldn't matter at all as the body work is technically a none serviceable item and as long as the car is serviced via the correct means, which it will be then there won’t be an issue. They said if there ever was a time when the body work had an issue and I took it to a dealer then it would be down to that dealer to determine the cause of it i.e if the pain work was damaged by someone or whatever then it wouldn’t be covered. If it was something that would normally be covered by your guarantee then you would be fine regardless of it not being serviced by a Renault garage.
