1999 Clio 1.2 Grande Insurance

I have been considering one of these clios for a while, being 18 with pass plus completed and it being a group 3 insurance car I thought it would be cheap to insure, but as of yet I have not received an online quote of under £1200 fully comp!!

This probably reflects my age but fuk me its still proper expensive for that car, is this about a fair price or cud i get it cheaper?

How much cheaper wud it be wen Im 19, which isnt too far away?

Cheers.

£2700???? thats mental!!

When I was 17 I had a VW Polo which cost £500 fully comp to insure, now Im 21 and my 1.4RT Clio with a load of mods costs £565, Im sure your paying too much for a 1.2 16v!

Fukin hell - u paid 2700!!!

how much more do ya rekon alloys, lowered, sports exhaust and induction kit will add?
Unless you go TPFT or are on your parents insurance policy youll struggle i think!

I paid £1600 for insurance for my group 3 car this year, and I was 20 and I live in one of the best postcode areas. But I had no NCD and one claim. And that was after a lot of shopping around. So £1200 at 18 with no NCD sounds like a very good deal. I knew a lot of 17 and 18 year olds whose cover was around the £3k mark on their own, so most got covered under their parents policy so they would have a few years NCD on.

Im beginin to think taken this pass plus thing was a bloody good idea (gives me bout 35% straight off), which is quality as the course was only £100.

What will modifyin add to the insurance (alloys, lowered, exhaust)?

Cheers

Your lucky as some insurers are not using the PP discount as it proved no difference was made.

Most insurers care about how much you paid for your mods. If i was in your position i would get the nicer wheels off of the current clios (15 inch 5 spokes) and then lower it on some budget springs from k-tec (60mm). I cant see the point in an exhaust myself.

ROFLMFAO!!!!!! Sorry m8 - but they saw u coming big style! Was that seriously the best you could do???

lets also bear in mind

rob was 17 when he took out the policy,

1st insurance on a brand new car is always going to cripple you

It was a safe grand cheaper than the others, including Tescos and the other ones people rave about being the best thing since sliced bread .The fact is there are no good insurers for young drivers. There is a quite a big difference between insuring the 60bhp model and 75bhp one.

i paid 670 for my xr2 when i was 18 fully comp first car and they had it down as a group 14 at the time now im 23 and 941 on a mk2 172
