1kw RMS at 2 ohm amp

  Polo + Micra

just having a look around for an amp that will do the above

jusst looking to get some ideas and opinions on different makes

well your lookin at spendin about £300+ unless your goin 2nd hand

what kind of budget do you have

Ive got an Alpine MRD-M1000 amp, that does 1000watts RMS at 2ohms, at 14.4volts. On my certificate my one was producing 1149watts RMS at 2 ohms.

Retails around 500 ish, but you can get one on the net for around 400.

dinky that model is slightly newer than my one. they both have the same specs/features etc, but just a different design ont he outside. if your looking for a bargain, the older mrdm1000 will be cheaper than the current model.

oh and a word of warning, these amps are fairly big, a pic of mine is below. the mrdm1000 is on the left:

yeah ive just had a look around and all the sites i tried either sell 1000 or 1001

whats the other amp next to it???

mrvf340 (its the 4/3/2ch 400w model)

basically it had to go there, as i couldnt put it at the side of the subs because the seats go up diagonally and not straight up. theres hardly any room left between the amp and parcel shelf and the amp and false floor. or you could mount it flat on the boot floor, depending on how big your sub box is.

  Polo + Micra

well i dont know how big the box is going to be yet

but im sure ill find a way of getting it in there (might put it on the back of the box)

fusion jona lomu monoblock - roughly around £300-£350 second hand does about 1.2kw @ 2 ohm IIRC

mtx 81000D (i think thats the name) does about 1.6kw @ 2 ohms can be had for around the same price.

these two would blow any sony or alpine away

I got my Viper 2400d (mailto:2.4kw@2ohm">2.4kw@2ohm) for £330 on ebay ;) bargains to be had if you hold out for a while, but a sub for it will prove expensive

the viper is another good choice, but go for the 1200d if you want 1.2kw at 2 ohms, will be cheaper than the 2400d aswell!

yeah but id rather buy a new amp than a second hand one

really looking at spending about £500 tops

the alpine is your best bet, its amasing quality and has loads of features as well. all the controls are digital. just remember to add another 15-25 for the amp remote, so you can control the bass from the dash. its also typical alpine quality, only flaw is that it doesnt run at 1 ohm.

they all cost more than the alpine. besides, alpine are similar to rockford, they tend to underestimate the power figures. my mrdm1000 gives 1149 rms at 2ohms.

  Polo + Micra

yeah some of them were a bit under powered (probably not in real life)

the digital designs one was sweet with its clip indicator but sadly it was designed to run a 1 ohm. which would probably give it a low power output a 2 ohms.

one other question, would it be mad to put this power into a w6v2???:devilish:

which sizw w6v2 do you have?

I have 10W6v2 dual 4 ohm, and my amp will be giving it 500 rms @ 2 ohm,

im planning to get another in the future and run my amp @ one ohm, giving the pair of 10s 1kw between them. They will be running from the class D sub channel on my memphis 5 channel, it gives 4x75rms @ 4 ohm, plus 1x1000rms @ 1 ohm on the sub channel, and I paid under £500 for it virtually new ;) they are very few of them in the UK as most, like mine has been imported from the USA, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4950&item=5718901043&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2Vhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4950&item=5718901043&rd=1&ssPageName=WD2V

IMO there isnt a better multi channel amp out there with that power for hte money. http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/details.asp?id=29http://www.memphiscaraudio.com/products/details.asp?id=29

Personnaly I wouldnt give on w6v2 1kw unless it was the 13" and deffo not from an alpine.

id agree with ^adam^

you cant really go wrong with an Alpine amp as they are good quality, but, you can find better for the money....

well it aint 1000w but its 800w rms @ 2 ohms, its this havent hooked it up in my car yet but had it in a mates with the sub pictured below and it was everything i could of asked for.

amp Directed 1100d

the set-up above would sound quality, both good pieces of equipment,

if you only have the one w6v2 then I would go for the directed or orion 1100d (basically same amp), if you are thinking of getting another w6v2 then I would get something more powerful that can push its full power at 1 ohm
