1st car...soon :), advice needed

  Turbos.
Totally know where you're coming from! It's frustrating, but then when you read about some 17 year old dead in a ditch you can start to understand it...

If you start off with a 1.2 Dynamique then you can save more for your V6 because you will save on insurance and fuel compared to some of the other cars mentioned!! Nothing wrong with a 1.2 Dynamique!!

Ye, I understand, I like the saxo aswell and the clio but only the Dynamique purely because of the interior lol, but it does have good potential for moding e.g. lowering, 172 bumpers etc..., but I think the saxo VTR/VTS looks well nice when its been lowered, and then since its a 1.6 its a lot faster than the 1.2 Clio and there around the same price. Which is annoying me the most.

  M2 Competition
I couldnt get insurance on a vtr, and i passed at 20!

Group 8 i think, way pricey. vts= group 13, no chance.

Get a 1.2 dynamique mate. The 1.4 isnt any faster at all, and will be more to run/ insure.

  172 Cup
I had a vtr for my first car (Was 18 at the time) and i'd really recommend one if your after something abit quicker than everyone esles 1.1's at sixth form or college, plus they are cheap to repair and can look great with a few subtle mods.

I wouldn't bother with a vts untill your older (19/20) even then you may able to jump straight to a 172 like i did (im now 20 1/2 )

Think this gives me a excuse to post a few pics :rasp:

Sold the 172 a few weeks back, dont know what to go for now- i've even been looking at vts's and 106 gti's as i loved my old vtr so much !

  BMW E46 330i Touring
As above (well, further up in the thread), stick to something newer and slower. There's plenty of time to get fast, irresponsible cars, just get something you can continue to learn in that won't get you in any trouble.

Even the VTR is quick enough to cause problems if you're not ready for it.

  Elvis - Biarritz 1.2
I'd say get a cheap 1.2... because that's what I did.
You can slaughter it and have it on the edge of losing control, all while staying within the speed limit. :D

Straight line speed though? Forget it.

  RB 200 Cup!
go for the 1.4 dyna - they are really nice cars and have qwuite a good pace but are cheap to run.

dont get a saxo - they are the pinacle in chavness and are made of cardboard - not good if your unfortunate to be in a crash

seems as if everyone thinks the dynamique then, I will see nearear the time, but really like the Saxo's (and im no chav lol)
That Saxo above is mint, I love it in the racing green. Would look spot on lowered... a lot :)

Personaly I would go for a very reasonably priced dci dynamique in the for sale section. Cheep to insure and tax and not too slow either.

  LY V6 with Recaros
Vtr's are great fun little cars and very cheap, the insurance isn't too steep either, I had one before my 182! I'd say that's not bad for a first car, I had a 1L micra!

  LY V6 with Recaros
One good thing about that was after driving the slowest car in the world, my vtr seemed like the fastest car in the worst when I first got it!!

Go for a dci 80 Dynamique. Reasonable performance and cheap tax and high MPG. On the Megane I have the ins grp is only 4 so not too bad.

Im really not keen on a diesel (i'm guessing DCi is the diesel option engine), think its between the Dynamique or the VTR, I will probaly end up with something completly diffrent lol, what do u guys think ?

  clio 16v
mate buy a suzuki swift gsi. there only 1.3 16v and go like s**t off a stick, cheap insurance as well. if I was just starting out again thats what i'd buy. I mean they do a 1/4 mile in the high 15's. Thats like as quik as my cav gsi and not far off my clio valver!

  1.2 MK2 PH2
defintly a 1.2 clio mate, they look the business imo, plus i dont know about u but i was keen as mustard to drive and i still am, ive not bee driving long but ive learnt alot ive had a few near misses, its all a big learning curve, uve not even begun to learn to drive once uve past ur test... so the cheapest/safest thing is go for a 1.2

cos if i had a vtr... i would push it to its limits like i do in mine and thats way more deadly for a inexperianced driver like me/u...

but at the end of the day, the clio's are the nuts :p

(think, if they can fit everything from a 1.2 all the way up to a v6 in pretty much the same car... there doin summit right!)

brembo take my advice and forget about these 'fast' cars ur talking about or it will end in tears trust me. i know alot of ppl dnt but there is a high chance u will crash/write off ur first car and u sound like u r up for a bit of ragging which i enjoy myself but sadly for me i sent a lovely clio 1.4 to an early grave at the age of 17 which i was gutted about (technically the crash wasnt my fault but if i had been more vigilent i cud have avoided the crash) but anyway juts get a 1.2 clio or 1.1 saxo u have years ahead of u 2 b buying fast cars and watever. also ask any1 on here how fast the 1.2 16v clios are and they will tell u for ur first car it is ample.

  Yaris Hybrid
DCI80 is a wicked car. Feels miles quicker than a 1.2 16v as you get real punch out of junctions and even some torque steer as it pushes you back in the seat but obviously runs out of revs quickly. Basically feels a lot quicker than it is if you know what I mean. Its more like driving a 2 litre petrol family car but with an insanely low rev limiter!

Consumption was great but trouble is they cost a bomb to buy compared to a 1.2 Dynamique. Wouldn't bother with mods as by the time you declare them you might just as well got something like the C2 VTS with group 8 insurance.

  MK1 V6 Lutecia / 197
Ciroen C2 Furio.....Group 3 insurance, economical and lloks bang up to date. Comes with the same interior and bodykit as the VTR/VTs/GT minus the alloys.......can pick one up for about £3000 now!

  Monaro VXR
Its worth going for the C2 VTS as well 125bhp only group 8 insurance wise so should not cost too much. And with it being citroen they still offer free insurance on some of them or cash back offers which will pay for your first year of insurance if you buy new. Same engine as the saxo VTS anyways so quite tuneable if you fancy that route in the future. Good fun little cars handle well. And masses of various parts available for them. And decent MPG as well.

Can also pick them up for around £6000 - £7000

Doubt group 8 is too hard to find insurance for at 17 for cheap just have to try some companies specialising in young people.

to be honest wouldnt go much over a 1.2 16v, mine handles s**t hot and for that exact reason i ocassionaly forget about me only having 4 months driving experiance and nearly put it in a field then calm down a bit for a week or so lol
