2.0 16v / 1.8 16v cams question...

  Clio 1.8 16v Mk1
To cut it short, I am rebuilding my engine (1.8 16v) and was wondering if the 2.0 16v williams cams will go in?

I can get some Kent cams, high-lift spec ones for a williams cheaper than a valver and I thought they might be a larger size because of the 200cc difference between valver and williams...

Any thoughts petrol heads? :D

The 2ltr cams will go in yes.

BUt just remember that they do differ in profile and geometry, so regrinding a 1.8's set of cams will not net the same values as a 2ltr's cams.

Right, Im pretty new to all this engine reuild stuff...

What will I need to make sure the company who are rebuilding the head do?

Im guessing that I will need the valves re-seating and what else..? :)

At a minimum, recut the valve seats and valves themselves, new seals, and a good old wash along with a face grind.

Also any problems flagged up with inspection.

It's not as simple as it first seems, as evidently made clear with Tucks's situation.....

Why not Kent Cams? :)

I've got the cams (provisionally sold to me) but can I not just use the pulleys off the 1.8 16v'er (Im clueless atm, just trying to fish for info)..

The head is getting rebuilt anyway, so I will be able to get everything re-cut blah blah.. but will I need new pulleys aswell? if so, has anyone got any links etc to some?

has anyone got any links to piper cams etc too and if there any performance difference? :)

kent products failing has caused me a hell of a lot of wasted money and time with my engine! its been off the road for months due to a pulley failing naffing the valves up etc.

dunno about cams, but please dont use their pulleys!!!!

Ahh, thats why these cams are for sale... they williams was cammed up and the pulley failed... causing valve damage to 15 out of 16...

Hmm this is putting me off lol..

Is there alot of gain thru this method?..

  williams and trophy
as saaid above...stay away from kent cams products. its not just the pullies that fail, but the cams also. is was the case on mine....luckily i only bent 2 valves..but the cam trashed the williams head.

piper or catcams.....id say. altho i havent tried either product.
