2 new tyres required for 197...

...after only 9200 on the clock lol.

can't believe that 2 tyres are required already....only had the car for a couple of months and i don't think i have driven it particularly hard.

anyway, order two of the standard continentals online at kwik fit...£162 for both..which isn't too bad considering i was paying £110 per michellen exalto for the 182.

£162 is a bargain, are you fitting them or does that include them fitting?

Mines on 15 miles and i still have 3 months left on them i reckon

Didn't realise 197's were so expensive to keep! £162 for 2 tyres, does that include fitting?
I've worn out my 2 front tyres in just under 8k miles (since they were replaced in June in the MOT) but i do drive it like i've stole it everywhere and they only cost £70 for both, fited. Looks like i'll have to look more at prices for things before i jump to a 197!

You got 9000 miles out of a set of tyres that realy good i've got a 197ciup and it done 12000mile and i've just bought my 4th set of fronts and second cet of rear

I've seen the way you drive im surprised they lasted this long LOL

.....only joking lad. hehe

I'm in the market for 2 as well, think I'll stick with the Conti's. I'm second owner so it may be on it's second set of tyres but I've had 14k out of mine - tho think they may be barely legal, good thing I didn't venture out in the snow!

My fronts lasted about the same tbh, I've gone to Toyos now... they seem pretty good too!

Impressed with that price for Conti's though :)

That price can't be right. You should be looking at about £125+ per tyre for Contisport Contact 3. £125 is a Mytyres price without fitting.

Kwik Fit show them @ £145 each or £116 each if you buy 2.

PE2s in 197 size are £200 each!!!! f**k, I used to pay £86 each for those on the Trophy.

  Whichever has fuel
BIG jts on here has done 18,000 miles from new in his 197 and has bought 6 tyres for it so far.

They eat those Continentals!

  Polo + Micra
bloody hell i thought i was doing well with getting 6000 miles out of the polo fronts

Torque FTL when it comes to tyre wear:(

  Renaultsport Clio 197
i've just swaped my fronts/rears a few days ago (13.000 miles) and going well ...but the back end is very happy lol

So I leave the handbrake alone.
Will be getting two toyos T1r for the front soon

I just completed the car selector drop down down menus on the kwik fit site and it brought up the following for r27: GT Champiro 45 215/45w17 £71.10, tyre disposal £1.50, new valvles and balance £8.50 - times 2 = £162.20.

http://www.kwik-fit.com/tyre-search.asp

now, unless there are a different tyre than what is on the car??? anyway, i'm not to bothered at that price.

i just booked them online and then you arrive at your local kwik fit to get them on.

must go and have a look and see if they are a different tyre now lol lol

lol...looks like i've ordered the cheapest that were available! the site didn't download properly last night...so might have to change my order :(

although..if i'm going to get 9000 miles out of a set I'm really hesitent to order the more expensive ones.

Does no one use blackcircles.com on here???

Not a chance in hell id use Kwik Fit

No sign of the Contisport 3 on the website, and the 2 are more expensive than the 3 from Kwik Fit. Plus they'll send you to some dodgy back street fitter to get them fitted.

I've used Kwik Fit loads of times and never once had a problem. In fact, the service has been very good, believe it or not. And with the kit they use these days it's virtually impossible to damage your wheel. I'd imagine the standard of work varies though, some are probably pretty poor.

Mytyres are coming in more expensive than Kwik Fit for the Contact 3s too.

I'm now due my tyres. The possibilities are;

Continental Sport Contact 3 - £110 each
Goodyear Eagle Asymetric - £96.93 each
Dunlop SP Sport Maxx - £86.54 each
Pirelli P Zero Nero - £88.11 each

Really not sure what to go for? I want all weather general use tyres. All prices are from blackcircles and are delivered not fitted. Anybody recommend which would be best, or any other options? Obviously it has Conti's on at the moa s the standards so replacing like for like would be fine. But price wise etc, what's worth going for?

Help!

I'm after exactly the same, 2 fronts for mine and the best i got for the factory fit sport contact 3 was £119 from blackcircles - you got a cheaper quote than me?!?!!

I'm sticking with the Contis.

are they still doing the deal at kwikfit you originally posted?

  BMW 320d M-Sport
Your quote fitted? Mine was just delivered and then I guess I'd go to Kwik Fit and get them to do it. Said fitting was £10

  Astra SRI/ Hornet
I'd keep all tyres the same make on my car, I have sport contacts on fitted by kwik fit and I think there very good tyres, never had them on any car before and was surprised by them. used to buy exaltos which do last but couldn't afford 4 at the time.

Sorry to bump this, but does anyone have Eagle's on their 197? Is it best to stick with the Conti's? I was amazed when I took a test drive, at just how much grip there was in the wet, but I don't know how much of that was the tyre?

i had eagles on the 182, but need to replace my 197 tyres, i will be sticking with the contis based upon the reader reviews i've seen on them, they tend to get a better overall rating than the f1's.

Yeah, makes sense to me too, they aren't cheap, but guess they are worth it?

I only changed the tyres on my ST because the P Zero Nero's were shocking!! Normally OE tyres are spot on, particularly with RS cars it seems.

I read a mag & they changed to some new dunlops & did back to back tests against contis & the dunlops were miles better.

JT confirmed it on RS.

were they miles better all round, or just grip? I thought they might be a softer compound than the contis and therefore less durable?

I'd be interested, the F1s are quite a bit cheaper, so if tests show they are better all round i might swap over.

My contis at the front are on 16k miles now and have another 1-2k left on them.
