200 EDC v Meg 250 cup better daily/track car

On track and spirited road driving no doubt a manual as you have total control, and even better if you can heal and toe. Monday morning on the M62 in a 2 hour tail back a manual becomes a bloody pain in the arse.

Think I'm going with the meg though, I'll just leave for work earlier ?

Very true.

I’d say the clio ticks the commute box. But only knowing if you from on here the Megane would be the car.

The Mk3 Megane is so more refined than the previous models(which I have driven). Renault really got the styling right on this model too. Lux has climate, cruise control, aux, Bluetooth etc etc so all the creature comforts. Car is a breeze in traffic compared to 172/182 on which the clutch can be quite heavy. I have used both a 172 and 182 as a daily too.

I am biased, however it took me ages to find mine and I absolutely love it. There are many other cars I looked at buying too in the price range. You don't see that many Meganes on the roads either. The one you have been offered is almost the perfect spec and in a desirable colour. I am sure once you go for a test drive it will answer all the things you are slightly unsure about. Then I look forward to seeing some pictures ?

Who the actual actually heels and toes.... About 8 people. ever.

As above, I do it in everything, it's instinctive and takes no thought. My RS, my diesel C Max, the works Transit, all of them.

Once you've bothered to learn it (which really isn't hard at all, I've no idea why so few people do, well, actually I do but that's a whole other conversation) changing gear without doing it just feels wrong.

But the point of the video above was just about manual 'boxes and how using one enhances your sense of connection and involvement with the car. That point stands regardless of how deft you are with your feet.

Oh I can do it, I started doing it then I thought what is the actual point. When I'm taking my 3 year old to school I don't feel a hero doing it. What I feel is annoyed that I have to change gears myself when the car could do it for me! :)

Truth be told I only do it when I overlap braking and downshifting otherwise it's a simple blipped and rev-matched downshift while off the brakes. If I am braking and want a downshift though, I can't not do it.

A non-rev-matched downshift in any car just makes me wince/cringe.

Tried to teach my mate how to do it at Oulton as i lost a part of my soul every time he dropped into 3rd coming into old hall.

He couldn't get the hang off so the box kept taking a beating, lol.

How does it compare to a dsg used in the 1.2/1.4 vag stuff around town pulling out of junctions at slow speeds or pulling off at light's low speed manovers

I had a 250 for over 5 years and it was a great car but only doing about 6k miles per year, now have a Focus RS which is very similar ride wise to the Megane and doing 60 miles a day.
it is fine most of the time but when I am stuck in stop start traffic I keep thinking I want a auto as it would just make the journey so much better.
I keep looking at Clio 220 trophy’s.
Driven both on the track and without a doubt the meg is so much better and faster although nothing wrong with the Clio except they need better pads just felt boring with the auto on track (but I am used to My 182 track car which is a lot more involving) but for a day or two a year on track you would still enjoy it.

Few (bad) pics of the Meg on offer at work. Not as mint as i first thought on closer inspection, quite a few scratches, dinks and imperfections which will cost around £500 to sort, also big hole in the drivers upper bolster which will cost £100 or so. Also needs new discs and pads at £380 as well as new tyres at least £400.

The cloth Recaros do seem very susceptible to wear and tear, much more so than the leather. If he is willing to drop the price a bit, I would probably still go for it.

58k and full service with belts, dephaser, and waterpump done by Renault around 2 years ago/30k ago. New clutch at the same time as well.

Just done a wewantanycar quote and it came in at £6100, which wont be to far off what the trade price would be, so he'll need to sell private to get close to what he wants to purchase the M135i he's after, with that I'd say £9k was fair?

If you'd pay 9k start a bit lower. As there's a big bill for consumables already on the table trying your luck with a low offer seems a good plan to me.

Offer £8500. Worst he can say is no. At 9k I think would still be a good buy from your description. The webuyanything prices are a joke on anything specialist and are generally based on a basic spec car. Trade in price will depend on a lot of variables, mainly what he is buying.

£6100 is an insult, although I do appreciate that people chop cars in for lack of hassle. If you could come to a fair price based on what needs doing, you could get a real good buy.

What discs does it need?

if its fronts they can be had for £130 and a set of brembo spec pads are only about £50 are are decent enough
