2002 Clio 1.2 16v Problem with Glow Plug heater light on. (help needed plz)

Sold my old car to the gf's dad, just rang me saying his glow plug heater light is on as soon as the car is turned on,and running, Remains on. Does not affect the car in running as its a petrol.

Anyone got an idea what it could be, its not covered by warranty, and i may get some grief as i sold him the car last year. I said call the RAC out, and get them to view the ECU failure list, or i thought a blanked off cable shorting link may have come loose in the harness, as i suspect most of them are generic.

Update, its the Exhaust light thingy.

What checks can we do to try to split the system down to work out what is not working, not want them to take it to renault.

Any way to check the cat.?

i doubt it'll be the CAT, more likley to be coilpack

Ooh, how much is that gonna cost them.?

Car is on 40k ish, original exhaust.

Where would you take the car to, whats a coilpack.?

coilpack is about £50 from Renault (10min job to fit)

its the black box thing with 4 wires coming out of it going to the engine (simple description)

easiest way to see if its knackered, pull off each HT lead individually with engine running, hold near engine mount, and watch for spark (repeat with all 4)

The car runs, just the light on the dash. Looked at previous threads and thought it was the engine toxic fume light (box with wiggily line in it).

I know what a coil is, so a coil pack would be all 4 together. If the car runs fine, how can this affect the dash light.?

think the coil packs were faulty on the 2002 1.2s or somthing you hear about a lot of them going dodgey, mine needed replaced. cost £60 + fitting

Can runs ok, no problems in performance, nothing extra noticed. No captions, associated warnings.
