2003 172 Headlight problem

A few weeks back the passenger side xenon stopped working, now the other ones gone. I've just checked the fuses and they had blown so I replaced them. As soon as you put the the lights on they blow again.

Could this just be the bulbs? do I have to remove the bumper to replace them?

Any help would be appreiciated, I really could do without getting raped by Renualt at the moment.

sounds more sinister than the lamps. As the fuses are blowing I would say it's probably the ballasts, but I'm amazed that both sides have gone already on a 2003 car. They're about £150 each from Renault. Have you had a look at the rear of the lights?

All the other lights are fine. I don't really know much about the setup with xenons but could the fuses be blowing because the bulbs are knackered? I've ordered new bulbs but from what I've heard the bumper has to come off to replace them? I really don't fancy going to all that hassel if its going to end up down Renault anyway because its something else.

How many miles have you done?

I think its on about 22000 now, I haven't been driving it much the last few weeks as the missus has been using it. She does more miles than me and the 172 is better on petrol than her MX-5 ( when she drives it). The lights have only stopped working since she's been driving it, typical.

Strange that the xenons have gone, my 52 plate MK2 172 has done just under 67K and the xenon lights are still fine [touches wood]

I've had a problem with the UCH for a while now but that has only made the drivers window play up. I'm wondering if this may have anything to do with the lights not working as well. I managed to get 2 new bulbs of ebay for less than £40 delivered so I'm hoping its just them.

Come on guys, for a forum full of renaultsport owners I'm not getting a lot of advise. Surely someone else has had the same fault symptoms and knows what the cause was?
