205/50 R15 tyres on a PH1 172

  PH1 172 Sport
As title I know they would fit on the alloy but would it be worth it handling wise and would I get any rubbing?

might need 5mm spacers, but i doubt it

we ran ET38 (i think) with 205/50 15's and that car was LOW with an 8mm wider rear track and it scrubbed a bit (only at the bottom of paddock hill at Brands and through eau rouge at spa, and on occasion down the A4141 in birmingham ;))

so with mk1 172 wheels (i forget the offset, 42 is it?) you should be fine

Yeah its a 42 offset. Ive been toying with the idea of 5mm spacers as well to give it the same track as a cup. But havn't really decided if its worth it or not!

I can't answer your query in relation to the rear, but I recently put 205/40 r16 tyres on the front of my -40mm ph1 and have gotten no scrubbing.

Friend of mine is running compomotives with 205 40 16 7.5j fronts and 205 45 16 7.5j rears slammed .

I'm guesing they should be ok then? Not really being that knowledgable on tyres, offsets etc I am geusing that 205 tyres will just be 5mm wider each side of the tyre then the 195's? If that makes sense!

  172 cup
more tyre good for traction yes. But a wider tyre then what should be fitted is going to flex a lot more around the twisties, which and im only guessing here but surely thats going to make it feel unstable/understeery

Apart from a bit more tramlining I haven't noticed the difference. We've had a few wet weeks over here and I haven't pushed the Paradas. Haven't had a chance to get on track either.

Just looking at the clearence between the rear tyre and the rear dampner I think another 5mm worth of tyre could be pushing it so I would probably need spacers :( in which case ill probably stick with the stock setup
