205GTi handles better then a Clio Trophy?

I agree with most sentiments here, the 205 GTI was a superb handling car. I was fortunate to own one when I was 19 years old. At the time my brother owned R5 cheeky Turbo, which was also a thrilling drive in it's own way. I decided some 8 years after to buy another 1.9, as my memories were fond.

After owning it for some 7 months, I just realised how cars had moved on in terms of comfort and saftey. However loved the raw performance and good looks. I think part of my move to buy RS Clio was because of the pug. Which in it's own right can give you the same thrills, if you have the balls to push the envelope! Which I haven't, because I have more than myself to worry about.

To he who asked if you'd rather own a 15yr old car or a nice new one: I'll take the better car thanks regardless of age and what toys it comes with. I suspect that means I'd take the older car every time.

I'm glad to see Fred and Yoz had such a whale of a time in a std valver as well. They are very under-rated as track cars and as hot hatches in general, but they are seriously FG to drive on the limit.

I had a 205 1.9 GTI 'S' which had 163BHP at the flywheel. It was much quicker than it use to be in standard form. But on a straight my Cup is quicker.
But the 205 felt better to drive. It just that the Cup is easier to drive faster.

I'm sure a valver is a hoot to drive like most little hot hatches from France but honestly drive a standard 1.6 GTi down a tight back road and you'll know what people are talking about! Even JONGSR4's Evo 2, 4 or Clio Cup didn't produce the seem grin factor!

In a 205 you can have so much fun without breaking the law.

I must admit I don't like the look of modern cars.

Going WAY OVERBOARD with the curves nowadays.

I have never owned a 205 Gti but i have owned a Citroen Visa Gti which was the same engine as the 1.6 Gti. Not as good looking but it was a cracking underated car.

I had a friend who had a PUG 205 GTi 1.9 ( I do mean "had" one! lol ) He blitzed the car on a bend, took it too quick and flipped the car quite a few times... he bought a clio sport 172 last year and seems to think its more safer pushing that round the corners than the PUG ... joys of bends eh ?? lol

I only sold mine as I made money on it! I was planning on another for a daily drive, but Iam looking for the better handling but uglier 309 gti at the moment.
