214hp Cup (lol) is it illegal

  MKIII 138

here is a link to a car that is claimed to have 214hp but clearly does not. Is it false advertising to say your car has lots of power when it actually hasnt or is the law yet to catch up on this..

http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/WWW/CARS_popup.asp?modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&make=RENAULT&model=CLIO&variant=&keywords=&min_pr=8000&max_pr=&mileage=&agerange=&postcode=yo8+9lf&miles=1500&max_records=50&source=0&photo=1&sort=3&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH&start=2&distance=35&adcategory=CARS&channel=CARS&id=200519192348484Link

obviously the owner probably thinks it has this power

its supposedly (sorri cant spell) goin in within the next two weeks!! he know fook all about french cars...he has always been a jap person

  Remapped derv Golf

Bring him to a rr day then.

Was it ture Ben and Andy asked LAD to prove the figures but they wouldnt.

Theres a LAD Cup round here - driver never flashes back.

  Ziel Nurburgring

Please please please get him on here. 214bhp and i bet they still refuse to tell you what they do. Theres a couple on here with around 210bhp and they required serious work on them, costing £2ks+

LAD monkeyspunk are sh*t and id do him a favour by slashing his tyres so he cant get there(will probably have the same performance either way). Andy and Ben are the way ahead, not some cowboy outfit that ruin cars......

  EK9 + Mfactory gearing..

..hey Dutty_112 ask your m8 what LAD are going to do to his car for his "conversion"...but if he is a m8 i would try harder to stop him throwing his money away

That is criminal!!!! I would STRONGLY ADVISE AVOIDING LAD at all cost!!!!!

Theyre the biggest bunch of cowboys in the car world

We asked them to prove their power claims at a independant rolling road (Power Engineering in Uxbridge)

we offered to pay for their power run + fuel costs also

they replied asking for £800 to cover travelling expensis and even wanted a night in a hotel!!!!

Should we start a petition???

but does anbody have any actual proof that what LAD do is b****cks? Anybody on here driven a LAD car?

Without any real proof should we be sl*gging them off?

i have also heard bad things about l.a.d and thats not even from here. few people with 205 gtis said they had work done and their was hardly any difference in power if any.

OK if he gets the above conversion done I would love to come along to a RR and see what or if their is a great improvement and maybe pay some costs!!!!!!!!!!!

How many people would attend this and maybe charge to watch! ;) ;) :)

One of the 205 guys, took one of these converted engines apart, its supposed to be 130bhp increased to 160bhp.

Many parts are listed as replaced and they have a special french 160 bhp cam they put in.

Well the cam is certainly french, believed to be made by Peugeot themselves, strangely the same spec as original and its even worn the same amount as the original. Strange that.

Some of the listed new parts had the date stamped on them, 1988, conversion was in 1997. Seems slightly bizarre to have replaced new parts with parts that had same age as original ones. They were inferior parts because after a few miles they seemed to have worn to a level consistent with a 15 year old car. Strange that.

Its pretty well known that 160bhp from a 205 8v involves a lot of work.

Clio will be similar to get 200bhp+.

Make up your own minds

BTW, This is heresay, Ive not actually seen the parts myself, its just internet forum chatting.

do a search there was a big thread, someone tried to get LAD to come to a rolling road day and they would not put their car on the rollers even when someone offered them £1 a mile travelling expenses and a hotel for the night

Ill put it simple and if its not true I invite them to sue me for libel

LAD ARE FRAUDS.

If he is silly enough to get this done, get him onto a rolling road before he goes, recording all the variables like ambient temperature, weather, etc, and then get him back on the rolling road after.

I think Id lay money on it not making the power they claim.

Just use the same set of rollers before and after.....

They will automatically adjust readings for variables like ambient temp.

you ever tried running a car in 2nd gear on a RR??? what the figures rise!!!

also try pumping your tyres upto 40psi, that alone will give you 5bhp!!!!!!!

  Skoda Fabia vRS

im sure we could sort your mate a free RR if he wont listen and gets this done

id chip in just to find out what it gets

if he comes out and gets it rolling roaded and it isnt making the 200+ would he not be able to go back to tehm and show them that they are liers and demand his money back?

  E60 diesel powah

lol my cousin is really excited about getting this done even tho ive told him a dozen times ther sh*t! wont listen

  GDI Demo 182, Rsi Spider

ask him to ring me, i can expalian and prove whats needed to be done..

its simply not possible to get 200 plus bhp from that engine with just headword..... and keep it in one piece for long..

the fueling is lean even with manifold matching.... starts running into the 14s , it needs to be 12.9-13 to get good reliable power...

if they are not mapping the fuel then its simply not going to work.

we have done about 20 of these now and each one is a: different and b: never got 200 from headwork alone.....

best to date is 211bhp with : cams, headwork, manifold work, exhaust, itg maxogen, smt, larger injectors....

!!

A.
