221 bhp b18c6 itb'd mini

Gutting :(

Love this little Mini, think I would be heart broken to suffer the same fate twice.

You and this monster came past me while I was cycling down the chevin the other day, I wont lie i s**t my pants. It sounds absolutely mental. Sorry to see its broken.

  Ph1 Clio V6, Ph2 172
Awesome setup fella and about the perfect output to make it an utter weapon. What sort of weight is this car? Turbocharging a mini like this would be great on paper but s**t elsewhere regardless of what control you have on the engine. Mine was running a 16v A series turbo and it was s**t it all gears. 10" rubber didn't help it I suppose but de-tuned it was brilliant. I was developing an engine with morspeed that at full boost would be 330hp. At nearly 700hp/ton it would have been bonkers but complete crap. Still to this day I've never been around corners anywhere near the speed a miglia can. I'm planning on putting a lynx ae bike kit in the front of mine now as its not too over the top and in a 500kg fwd car, 150-60hp is enough.

mine weighed in at 640kg but still has the heavy rear subframe and a full cage, in all fairness it doesnt handle as well as a real mini and is very twitchy/sensative at anything above 90mph because of the short wheel base and very wide track, it does suprisingly get the power down pretty well with the power it has (had) :(
i think for now im just going to drop my b16 back in then build another b18 as and when funds allow.

well after my second blow up i was pretty p***d off but decided to find out what my problem was and it turned out i had read the cam info wrong and basicslly set them with way to much overlap and the inlet and exhaust valves were tangling with each other :(
once i sussed that out i bought anoother engine sent it off for reboring and fit the high compression pistons again, then did my diy headwork and refit the skunk2 pro valve springs and titanium retainers and along with the stage 2 cams, with alot of help from a honda guru i got the cams dialed in correctly with the degree wheel and dti guage and needless to say they were no where near where i had set them the first 2 times.
i got it running on the sunday did a few miles then paul@rs tuning did his magic again and i was more than happy with the result as it made 229.6bhp and 163ft lbs torque

after that i took it to santa pod for the mini show where it ran a 12.7@108mph with specky driving with a missed gear and i managed a 12.8@110.5mph the car performed awesomely and pretty sure it was the quickest na car on the day so im pretty pleased with that :)

Awesome car mate, definitely stick with NA don't think a little mini needs all that torque lol.

Believe it not not but when driving normally it's actually not as loud as you'd think, it's only when you unleash those 48mm itb's at 9k that it seriously starts to sing :)
brew is ready and waiting whenever your up al :)

Well it's been a while since I last updated this, we took the mini off the road last year to do some minor welding only to learn it was rotten and was tearing itself to pieces, so we decided a full restoration was in order and replaced every single part of the floor, inner and outter cills, a panels, a larger stronger transmission tunnel, we strengthened all the mounting points with 2mm steel inside and outside 12" around.
after that I decided on a colour change to Yamaha r1 blue which I think was a good choice and goes really well with the new force racing 3 piece split rim alloys :)
hope you like

Looks stunning! Well done.

But it begs the question; didnt you/previous owner/whoever built it think to check for rot before starting all the work first time round??

The first time I built it was 3 years before hand and it wasn't bad at all but with over 5 times the power the car was designed for it didn't like it and had started to split some of the welds that hadn't been done so well ( not by us) the car wasn't as bad as I'm making it sound but I had the opertunity of the garage and the facilities so decided to take advantage of it and went to town on it.
also I drove it through winter in snow when my bmw wouldn't go anywhere lol
