I think it's more to do with keeping air flow smooth over gaps etc to stop panels and bonnets ripping off/open!?

Not as impressive as Andy Frost doing 220+mph in quarter that distance. I thought there were quicker cars in the states too but I might be wrong. These GTR's do nothing for me personally but they are mightily impressive as far as an engineering point goes.

It was just on show mate, jm imports JUN-R1 was the quickest gtr at jap show finale, I think it got the uk 1/4 mile record for a gtr of 8.6 sec, also has the record for 60 ft at 1.3 secs or so
