2ltr conversion people

for people who are running 2ltr bottom end with 1.8 head or any one who knows about themjust wanting some info on how well these go compared to williams etc what mods you have done what bhp you are running and so on also wondering what gearboxs you have

last time it was rolling roaded, 166bhp with close to 150lb torque

thats with a unichip and straight thro exhaust.

previously rolling roaded at nobles where it hit 156bhp that was with hill power chip and scorpion cat back. not bad that i thought, 156bhp with the cat still on it ;)

  Trophy

Nope, there quite a few.

None more so than my old one, now owned by Adi,
One of the fastest clios on here with a 14.2s 1/4 mile,
Had head work too and would waste most willys,
1.8 Box.

Mat.

1.8 box mate, standard 19 16v one.

i was really surprised when we had it rolling roaded at nobles, up against another 19 16v with full williams engine, mine was only behind it by 4bhp which is neither here nor there.

i was actually up on torque over that engine.
not bad when u compare the 2 cars

mine: 2.0 megane bottom end, 1.8 head, and the cat on

his: full williams lump, cams, pulleys n decat

go for it mate, its a great mod for hardly any cash

Ray

i almost got a bottom end today but the bloke told me someone else had sold it friday can you give me any info on the engine mate prices you paid for certain stuff for it i spoke to nick hill today he said he would clean my head and skim it is there anything else you would get done that is not too expensive while its appart and would you go for a willy box or a 16v if you had the choice

cheers mike

i doubt ud even notice the difference by gettin a williams box mate

16v one will be fine.

umm, lol tons to do,
fit a kent 2.0 sports cam, 11mm lift.
bigger valves (33mm) instead of ur 30.
5 angle gasflow
lighten n balance bottom end
leave flywheel as it is, 5kgs fine n dandy
stainless manifold

lol then ur reacing throttle body stages, dta management

alot to do mate, should see u well clear 200bhp all that lol

the 1.8 lump is good for 300bhp N/A, just depends how well u go about things.

power pistons....heh i could go on n on

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Lifted from Adis car spec:

Engine: 1,998cc F16i.e. twin-cam 16v running on mobil 1 motorsport 15w-50 fully synthetic oil. Converted by Hillpower in winter 2001/02 using a 19,000 mile block from a 1998 megane 2.0 16v. Complete with Gas flowed head with matching intake and exhaust manifolds, Piper fast road camshafts with
vernier pulleys and Hillpower re-programmed ECU, Fitted at the same time was a new timing belt, williams clutch, uprated dog bone engine mount, starter motor, alternator and water pump. Colour coded rocker cover and silicon water hoses. Also with Hillpower induction kit and full Magnex stainless steel exhaust system including de-cat. Gearbox has silkolene pro srg75 fully synthetic oil. Immaculate engine bay!

This car ran 14.2 quater mile which is as quick (if not slightly quicker) than a standard Escort Cosworth!!!

I defo wouldnt say it is a cheap mod though but the prove is how quick Adis is so if u can afford it, go for it m8!

£1500 gets u a GT Turbo conversion with re-built engine (u supply the engine) easy 200bhp there with a couple of mods, i think the volvo 1.7 turbo from a 440/480 will prob go too  nice dump valve goin off under your 19/clio

Yes - the ratios are the same, except for 5th which is longer in the Willy. The Willy box is tougher though, courtesy of a 19 TD casing.

mikey- pah i eat escy cossies for breakfast mate hehe

id say its better than a 5gtt transplant and certainly more reliable and able to take serious stick

i just need t/bs now to get over 200hp then ill be happy

valver box is fine jus lose out a bit on top end

hmmmm i thought the williams gearbox had shorter ratios, not able to hit 60 in 2nd, where u can just hit 60 in 2nd with the 16v box.

Ray

  clio 20v

valvers can hit 60 in second cos of much higher rev limit ive got a valver box on a chipped 2.0 and it wont do 60 in second still

adi

Williams

1st:34 2nd:56 3rd:79 4th:103 5th:130

16v

1st:35 2nd60 3rd:83 4th:112 5th:127

according to autocar

The 16V and Willy ratios are the same apart from 5th - but the Willy (even with a chip?) revs to a lower limit. The Willy differential uses the same 4.06:1 overall crownwheel and pinion ratio as the 16V, but has a larger diameter secondary shaft and different bearings. So nothing apart from the 5th gear ratio that would mean different speeds between the two boxes in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th when linked up to the same engine.

heh mine does adi ;) bang on 60 in 2nd.

yeh wangin mine round to the limiter in second will see bang on 60mph on the speedo but for an actual 60mph itd be 62-63 mph on the speedo if u kno wot i mean

for e,g when testing with the ap-22 bounching it off the limiter in second will never make the ap read 60mph it always needs a change to third

  williams and trophy

hehe an it is a fast fukka...............just slightly faster than the quikkest timed williams over the last couple of years(that i know know of) but,the williams is still standard hehe bar the cat n zorst
