2nd hand Starter Motor

Is it really worth it if I can get hold of one?

I know I run the risk of ending up with one as bad as the one currently fitted to my car but I'm kind of low on funds at the moment and the one I have fitted is steadily getting worse and I'm having to bang it to get it to engage on a daily basis now, so I'm sure it's going to die completely soon.

Just looking for the cheapest alternative really.

Id buy a 2nd hand one strip it and rebuild. If your having to bang yours is the solonoid jamming?

I think so yeah, when it decides to throw a fit all I get is a clicking sound (like a clicking relay) when I try to start the car.

It'll fire up fine 1st thing but once it's stood after a run out in it, that's when the problem occurs.

I've never had good experience from second hand starter motors or alternators.

^ Was about to say that, if you can get a refurbished unit then that may work.
