3 out of four wheel bolts????

  Breaking A 172 Replica
I have just picked up a new car and I have noticed one of the turinis is only being held on by 3 bolts. On closer inspection and by taking the wheel off it has become clear the wheel locking wrench for that wheel must have been lost. They have therefore sheared off the bolts somehow so the wheel can still be gotten off.

The bolt is now just about flush with the hub. How do I get it out so I can put a new bolt in?

Thanks

Sam

you need to hav a little chat with an engineer who has got a tool caled a studd extractor. here is what hapens.

they drill into the broken stud, tap with a left hand thread, (opposite to a normal one) then screw in the stud extractor so if you imagine the new hole is not lefty lucy righty tighty. it is lefty tighty righty lucy,

so turn left gets very tight snd then in turn will start to undo the thread as the undoing is weaker than the shearing of the new thread if you get what i mean,

i have got these, but i is in doncaster

if you not near, engineering workshops etc,

that is the proper legit way, dont do the other way forcing it round with a chisel, if you f**k it up it will cost you more money

best of luck,
if you need me pm
Russ

ps as i was typing slow i was beat to it, but that is the description!:rasp:

Ok, that sounds brilliant mate.

What sort of time will you get to Newark?

I have work from 11-3 in Grantham (14miles away), would it be possible either side of then?

Thanks

Sam
