Different thing i guess...my dads DCi clio is just over the 3 year mark now and the only thing its ever had is a sunroof under warranty....

Tho he's trading in for a megane 120 DCi 6 speed very soon...

i have had a few probs and a thinkin what to do at warranty time
i'd get a good independent respectable garange such as rentech (if posssible) to check it over and advise you on the standard of the car and go from there.
if if looks like it will be problematic in a few months sell it on and get your best money before the warranty runs out

My dad extended the warranty on his 52 reg 172 the other month, it cost £400 !!!
It does include a years AA membership (which he doesn't want as he's already got cover but they wouldn't reduce the price)

arnold shark offer 2 years warranty for just shy of £300 iirc maybe it was £400.

They've always been ok for warranty work for me but I'd never buy a 2nd hand car from them expecting it to be hassle free.

Mine runs out of warranty in November this year and the only probs that the car has had is the suspension strut mod (clunky on full lock), new rear window (Heating elements failed) and new offside rear light cluster (condensation). All under warranty.

Mine was so bad under warranty, that the dealer extended it for two years. It turned 3 in September and since then, only thing thats needed doing was the bonnet switch for the alarm (60 quid under warranty). Given that ebfore it was in every 10 days on average, its got better, not worse...

My cup is 3 1/2yrs old - and had no major probs. I've probably jinxed it now though - touching wood vigorously, ooh er!!

Does anybody know if you can get the strut problem fixed anywhere other than renault??

I've never had any warranty on any car I've owned.

My 52 plate 172 seems to be running okay (touch wood) but if anything goes wrong thats just the downside to motoring....I'll probably fix it myself or go to a non Renault garage anyway for cheaper prices.

Mine's 2002 and done 38k and no faults. Had a problem with the strut top mount knocking noise but got that fixed during warranty.

Hi all, I have a 03 cup, have had it around 6 moths, and warrenty runs out in may, although extended for another 6months, so far i've had done under warrenty, has 46k on clock (48k service soon...boo).so some bits aren't going to be covered...(so the service people say!!but it's full manfact warrnty man) anway so far have had this lot done...

1.Top engine Mount.
2.Lower engine mount.
3.drivers side wheel bearing.
4.top strut mount.
5.strut mod.
6.passenger window was fallin forward when lowered,so they fixed that!..

but, still have a knock under my feet, i can feel it all the time, esp on the roads round my way!!.although its been in 3 times for this knock, me and 'JamesRich' still can't find it!...am thinking drive shaft meself!...anyone else got any ideas.....cv joint?.....

well, apart from the few problems, am still lovin the cup....

I'd say its luck of the draw to be honest!! If you've had the car from new, maintained it and looked after it, you can probably assume its gonna be ok. If you're second owner you may be more cautious.

Mate of mine had a Y reg Impreza, paid for and extended warranty and within a few months the turbo failed needing massive work on the engine. £400 warranty saved him about £4000 in repairs on his Scooby!!

Thanks man, not sure how much it costs,was part the deal I got, but I work for platinum reno in trowbridge, will find out for you tomorrow, worth reading the extended warranty to see what it covers....when and if you get it!...

Got mine booked in next week, also taking it to a pug garage to see what me mate can find as i think the knock on mine is getting worse!!...boooo....

You can get it extended to 120k and 5 years if you pay there loads of options, either 4 or 5 years and 60/90/or 120k allowance.

wheel bearing went on mine 3 days before the warrenty ran out.. they couldnt book me in till after the warrenty ran out. so refused to do it under warrenty. f**king renault w*****s. had a reciapt all typed out for £150 before they even did the work..
so took it down the road and paid £80 with a a free courtesy car.

cant stand my local renault. even head office were a bunch of foreign pricks.
