4-wheel alignment - a skilled job?

Just wondering if a lot of skill/labour goes into it? Prices I've seen are around the £75-£85 mark, which for a few minor adjustments seems a little excessive?

I've had it done before and the results were instantly noticable. With me chucking on the new front shocks this weekend, I was going to have it done again early next week.

Anybody know specifically what's involved?

Cheers,
D.

its mainly the setup time, it also depends on whether you're going to kwik fit or a motorsport specialist, the equipment will be (well should be!) a lot more precise at the motorsport place

a full chassis setup (corner weighting, camber adjustment, alignment etc) can be upto £250, but its time consuming

some people will think thats crazy money, but they will also be the ones getting lapped on trackdays ;)

Im sure a monkey can do it if trained but do remember the equipment is expensive.

I desperately need this doing but for some stipid reason I keep putting it off... Must get it booked in for next payday

Protyre use a very impressive computerised rig that gives you a print out of all of the geometry angles (that you can't adjust on the Clio..) and they charge less than £25 for front toe adjustment on the machine (basically, it's just tracking). don't know how much they charge for adjustment of the geometry but the figure you quote seems pretty good when you consider the amount of spanner waving and fiddling that could be involved if you've got adjustable arms/tie bars/and-all-that

Getting my Whitleine Camber Bolts and Shims fitted Next Tuesday... Unsure on the Total Cost but they said 2-3 Hours labour so we will see, Not many places around here will take on Full camber adjustments etc. and a few have Recommended them to me so we will see, Hopefully make a massive difference to the Feel of the Car as it's dropped fairly so will be a million miles out at present.

Good Stuff.... i've been meaning to do it for ages and I've just noticed the outside of my Front Tyres wearing more than the inside so thought I best get it booked in quickly before I end up with a bill for 2 New Front Tyres aswell
